FULL TIME

Huntingdon & District 38
Rugby St Andrews 15

A tough afternoon on the road, but plenty for the squad to take from the performance.

RSA started strongly, racing into an early 10–0 lead, with some excellent support play producing two first-half tries.

Our set piece gave us a good platform throughout the game, but a strong period from Huntingdon either side of half-time saw them take control of the scoreboard.

The lads continued to work right through to the final whistle and were rewarded with the final try of the match late in the second half.

Plenty of positives to build on and some clear areas for us to improve as we continue into the league season.

Thank you to everyone who travelled to support the team.

LEAGUE RUGBY STARTS HERE

Our 1st XV begin their league campaign this Saturday as they travel to Huntingdon & District.

Saturday 3rd October 2026
Huntingdon & District v Rugby St Andrews 1st XV
Kick-off: 15:00

The squad is named and ready for our first league test of the season.

We’d love to see as many St Andrews supporters as possible make the trip and get behind the lads. A strong following on the touchline always makes a difference, especially away from home.

If you’re free on Saturday, come along and support the boys as we get our league campaign underway.

A tough result on the scoreboard, but plenty to take from our 2nd XV’s first league game of the season.

Old Laurentians 2nd XV 40–12 Rugby St Andrews 2nd XV

After earning promotion last season, we knew stepping up a league would bring a new challenge, and Saturday gave the players a good indication of the level required.

The effort and commitment from the squad was excellent throughout, with the lads continuing to work hard right to the final whistle.

Our first try came through winger Leo Sutton, who finished off a brilliant full-pitch sprint to get us on the scoreboard.

The second was a well-worked team try, with Tommy Helliwell finishing the move.

Man of the Match went to Jack Aitchison after a strong performance across the whole pitch.

Old Laurentians were quick to punish us from turnover ball, and there were a few moments where we were not organised quickly enough defensively. They also moved the ball well into the wider channels and took their opportunities.

There are plenty of positives to build on, alongside some clear areas to improve as we adjust to the step up in level.

A lot of effort, a lot of commitment and plenty for this group to take forward into the next game.

LOCAL DERBY THIS SATURDAY

There’s no 1st XV fixture this weekend, so the focus turns to our 2nd XV as they make the short trip across Rugby to face Old Laurentians RFC.

Saturday 26th September 2026
Old Laurentians RFC v Rugby St Andrews 2nd XV
Kick-off: 15:00

With the 1s having the weekend off, it would be great to see a strong St Andrews following on the touchline supporting the lads.

It’s a local derby, so there’s plenty of pride at stake and every bit of support will make a difference.

If you’re free on Saturday afternoon, get yourselves down and get behind the boys.
