The tongue is linked to the vagus nerve system, which is involved in regulation and calming. Slow, mindful tongue movements can reduce tension in the jaw, face and neck, regulate breathing and help create a calmer state - plus its fun 🤩

Many autistic children walk on tiptoes. This can be due to sensory seeking or avoidance, emotional regulation or lack of body awareness. Toe walking can lead to poor balance, reduced ankle movement, tight muscles/tendons and foot pain. Yoga therapy can be a helpful support by incorporating balance games, proprioceptive input, strengthening exercises and sensory regulation activities. 🦶 🧘‍♀️

EXPECTATION VERSUS REALITY: when we expect people, ‘things’ and life to be a certain way, we leave ourselves open to disappointment and suffering. If we can remove the ‘shoulds’ that our mind creates eg “life should be fair” then we can free ourselves from disappointment and suffering. I never really expected the Amazon wig to be just like the picture 😂 😜
