Being part of the WALX community is about so much more than walking or outdoor fitness. At the heart of every group are shared values of friendship, support, encouragement and belonging — creating a community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
Through the WALX programme of outdoor fitness, our members have discovered new confidence, improved their health and wellbeing, and found a renewed enjoyment of being active. Along the way, they have formed genuine and meaningful friendships, creating connections that extend far beyond the walk itself.
WALX also offers something increasingly precious in today’s busy world — a deeper connection with nature and the outdoors. Walking together, sharing experiences and enjoying the beauty of the natural environment can lift spirits, build resilience and create a powerful sense of wellbeing.
For many of our members, WALX has become a place where they feel connected, supported and part of something special — a community where friendships flourish, confidence grows and every step brings a sense of achievement.

With temperatures rising ahead of the impending fifth heatwave of the year, the Sunday Striders decided that discretion was the better part of valour and tackled their route in reverse, seeking out every scrap of shade they could find as the morning sun turned up the thermostat.
Winding their way along the many footpaths of the Munden Estate, the Striders were beginning to wonder whether they had accidentally taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up on safari. The once-lush English countryside was looking increasingly like the savannah — although thankfully, no lions were spotted!
Well done Striders.
Walk Leader Jennifer.

A fabulous Friday morning at Jersey Farm for our Explorer Walk! 🌞
With big blue skies overhead, we enjoyed a lovely walk up to Nash Farm, taking in the beautiful views across to Sandridge. It was a wonderful way to start the day—fresh air, exercise, and great company.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to seeing you WALXING with us again on one of our many countryside walks. 😊

A lovely breeze and blue skies made for the perfect setting for our Summer Smovey session this morning.
We enjoyed some gentle exercise using the Smovey rings, helping to strengthen the upper spine, improve posture, and enhance balance. A great way to move, stretch, and enjoy the fresh air together!

Move It Monday.
Starting the week with our core ledge workout. Using the pole to create resistance we did a timed circuit of strength exercises designed to challenge the core, tone muscle, improve balance and encourage stronger posture.

Walk Leader Jennifer lead the Striders group this morning. This is her account.
This week's Sunday Strider walk started at Ayot St Peter, with a shaded wall along the Greenway and Stocking Springs Wood to Ayot St Lawrence. Along the the way we stopped at Shaw's Corner & the ruins of St Lawrence Church. The return walk was across open fields where harvesting has already been completed. A moderate paced walk can have a beneficial effect on cardiac and respiratory health, as well as helping to ease joint stiffness and lift your mood. We certainly felt these benefits after this lovely walk.

Today's Saturday Stroller was a gentle paced walk around Amwell and Nomansland Common. A lovely walk with a mixture of open fields, shaded paths, country lanes, and woodland, with wildflowers and fruits along the way. Gentle exercise such as our Stroller Walx can help to improve physical and mental wellbeing and is excellent for our general health.

A jolly morning walk up to Heartwood Forest enjoying lovely views across open countryside. The paths were lined with an abundance of wildflowers alive with butterflies. With our version of a rain dance, we then escaped to the cool shade of Langley Wood before returning to Sandridge.
