⚽️💙 WHAT. A. SEASON OPENER! 💙⚽️
What a way for Howden AFC Ladies to start their season on home ground! 🔥
The first half got off to an incredible start, with the ladies finding the back of the net within just a few minutes! From there, Howden were absolutely flying, playing some fantastic technical football and creating chance after chance. The ladies went on to score another 4 goals, putting in an outstanding first-half performance! 👏⚽️
Just before half time, Inglemire were awarded a penalty after a handball inside the Howden box. They took their opportunity and found the back of the net, leaving the score 5–1 at half time.
After a few changes and positional adjustments throughout the second half, Howden remained calm, composed and in control. The ladies continued to work hard and added another goal to their tally. 💪⚽️
Unfortunately, during a change of positions, Howden briefly lost concentration, allowing Inglemire to break through and score another. But there was absolutely no letting their heads drop! The ladies quickly responded, fought their way through the Inglemire defence and found the back of the net once again! 🔥⚽️
With just 2 minutes before the full-time whistle, Howden were awarded a penalty after a handball inside the Inglemire box. The ladies had a fantastic opportunity to add another goal to the scoreline, but the Inglemire goalkeeper stayed fully focused and pulled off an excellent save to keep the penalty out! 🧤👏

Ellie joined the team in the pre season and has already played two friendlies with us, but today was her first competitive season game — and what a way to make her mark!
Ellie was solid from the very first whistle right through to the end. She made it incredibly difficult for the opposition to get past her, worked tirelessly and was always willing to drive back and win the ball back for the team. 💪⚽️

What an amazing opening game for our ladies! Every single player gave their absolute best, showed incredible determination and played some fantastic football. The teamwork, technical ability and attitude on display were brilliant from start to finish. 👏👏
