Whitstable Rugby Club vs Sheppey Rugby Football Club U14 Boys 🏉
Today Sheppey junior rams traveled to Whitstable Rfc for a friendly game.
From the warm up it was clear to see that Whitstable are a very well drilled team and have a lot of very big players and I believe this concerned the lads as we went with the bare 15 and Whitstable had plenty of subs on the sideline.
Right from the start the lads battled and were trailing behind most of the game, but never gave up especially as it was the most physical game I’ve ever seen the lads play in, the tackles were huge, the supporting play was spot on and securing the ball was on point.
Everything we’ve been working on seems to be coming together now.
As the game went on into the second half we had a few injuries but those injured carried on and battled through,
Into the last 5 minutes we were behind 24-15 and the boys managed to get the ball over the line to make it 24-20, what happened next was one of my proudest moments of being a coach happened,
Oscar the team captain pulled the lads in and said we have 2 minutes left let’s give it our all, and that they did putting the ball over the line with one minute to go, we kept possession after kick off and cleared the ball into touch after 2/3 phases.
Resulting in a 24-25 win 🤘🏼
Man of the match went to Josh which was well deserved, but also if I could I would’ve awarded every single player as it was an amazing performance.
