Skipton AC

Last week Skipton AC’s juniors were out and about racing at Ambleside and doing some orienteering at Lyme (accompanied by grandma and grandpa who are keen runners!).

Our seniors were racing in Roundhay Park, Gisburn Forest and on the canal near Skipton. Members were parkrunning in Ilkley, Northallerton, Maidstone, Morecambe, Nottingham, Saltaire and, of course, Skipton.

On Tuesday 28th July, we had a sports day with juniors and their parents taking part alongside the seniors. The juniors were way more competitive than the adults and they didn’t cheat so much! The pizzas and buns went down very well afterwards.

Last week there wasn't an eclectic mix of races like our previous post. However, at the weekend, senior and junior members took part in parkrun at eleven different venues!

Members regularly volunteer at Skipton parkrun and on 25th July, six of us were helping out including being the Run Director, Timekeeper, Tail person and course marshals.

* Afoot in Two Dales (50 miles!!), Wensleydale & Swaledale

* 8 different parkruns

Tonight was our monthly meet up where we run a short distance at a chatty pace. It's a lovely, inclusive way to have a gentle run and get to know other club members, especially in such glorious weather. As one club member said, "this 100% what our club is all about" 🌞

Tonight is the second race in the Harrogate Summer League hosted by Nidd Valley Road Runners. We hosted the first race in the series.

We are one of fifteen teams taking part - here's a photo from two years ago at Ripley Castle, the last time Nidd Valley hosted.
