A massive thank you to John Howell for everything he has done over his time with club in this role. If anyone is interested in helping the club fill this role please get in touch. It would be much appreciated.
Below is a statement from John.
After 22 years of managing the Cricket Club accounts, it is time for a change. At the next AGM I shall be standing down as Treasurer. In light of Joe Bunyan’s decision to stand down as Treasurer Elect due to personal circumstances, the Cricket Club needs to find a replacement Treasurer as soon as possible. I know that there is quite a bit to learn in order to take this role on but the good news is that we have a very comprehensive accounts package that is very easy to manage. Accountancy expertise is not necessary as we also have a paid for accountant to review the accounts annually so is always on hand for any questions. That said, I will remain available to help with the transition as well as some related activities.
The initial role will be to administer the accounts package, FreeAgent, and banking details. This involves inputting received bills, ensuring that these are paid either by direct debit or bank transfer and reconciled with the bank statements. More good news; the FreeAgent package is synchronised with our bank feeds on a daily basis so all that is required is to reconcile the bank transactions with the bills and invoices that have been created on the system.
I will be on hand to provide initial training as part of the handover to ensure the integrity of our accounts. Beyond that, the Treasurer is responsible for working with the rest of the board to assign an annual budget and to track how this is going. VAT reports are done quarterly, but all of these are now handled by FreeAgent and submitted electronically.
I look forward to working with my replacement and helping them get to grips with the role.
Regards
John Howell, Treasurer
