CHAIRMANS ANNUAL REPORT
Dear Pickleball Stirling members,
It is that time of year - our AGM beckons, 6.30pm Monday 14th of September, in the Allan Centre. Please come along and participate if you can. This is your Club and an opportunity to hear an update from your Committee and crucially, to give input to the running of your Club and the formation of your new Committee.
As this year ends, our 2nd, I believe it is appropriate to mention a few highlights, some challenges and a view of what may be ahead.
I realise that not all ~150 members shall attend our AGM, not quite enough seats, and thought I should issue a written, brief summary of some thoughts and views of the last 12 months for all to read.
Firstly may I say well done to every member, we are still here, thanks to you all. Despite The Allan Centre shutting at the same time as the Peak, despite Fairview shutting completely with less than 48 hours notice, despite.... we survive and indeed still thrive.
We now have 4 teams who competed in the, still new, Pickleball Scotland Leagues and I must give a huge shout out to Team Bruce who achieved, in remarkable fashion, the winning of PS Division 1 East and thus another promotion this time into The Premier League! By all accounts to have 4 teams actively, and competitively competing in the Pickleball Scotland Leagues is remarkable for a 2 year old club.
May I also thank all Clubs members who have been involved in managing both "friendly" matches with local clubs plus the hugely popular Box Leagues. Both give all Club members an opporunity to participate in full game situations whilst also, on occasions, enjoying some hospitality!
This year's post-festive Xmas party was another success as was our internal Club Champs inluding much munching of goodies!
Both Stirling Highland Games and Club Sport Stirling have thanked us again for helping at their events and for bringing wider recognition and indeed participation to the sport of Pickleball. On this point may I add Pickleball Scotland are very aware of our growing success and notice our much admired Club Tops poping up at various events accross Scotland AND on rostrums - well done ALL.
The subjects of skills development/coaching and future venues shall be discussed at our AGM so may I now sincerely thank ALL of my Committee Members, past and present. There is quite a bit of work goes on behind the scenes to enable us all to play Pickleball and particularly as a new club not everything is always perfect, however, I know we try. Thanks to all of you.
Lastly, and this is very important, the majority of your Committee are standing down this year, myself included. We intend, if appropriate, to offer some help to your new Committee. I really do hope there shall be some candidates for the vacant positions and that any members who feel they can help our Club move onwards and upwards, please feel free to step boldly forward.
I thank you all again for your membership of our amazing Club and hope you continue to enjoy playing our "new" sport.
