Team Stewart were in action today and continued their winning form with a 6–3 victory over Corstorphine Baseline Bandits.

They enjoyed a highly competitive match against a very friendly team. The matches were closely contested, with one game reaching 16-14 and another 17-15 and they could have gone either way. With just one match remaining, Team Stewart will be looking to finish the season on a high.

Box league standings as at May below. There is still plenty at stake in the box league, not least the family battle between Graham and Brian. Good luck to everyone playing in June.

The final two days of the Scottish Open brought a mix of successes and near misses for our players.

On Saturday, Jennifer and Jen delivered an excellent performance in the 15+ Doubles 3.49–4.0 category, reaching the quarter-finals and narrowly missing out on a place in the semi final after a heartbreaking 11–10 defeat.

Today, Jennifer reached the Last 16 in the 15+ Mixed Doubles 3.49–4.0 category. Stepping in at the last minute and partnering with a player from the United States whom she had never played with before, she achieved a fantastic result. Paul Woollery, competing in the same category alongside playing partner from West Lothian Pickleball Club, came close to progressing beyond the group stages.

Jen and Graham also put in a strong showing in the highly competitive 15+ Open Mixed Doubles category. Facing opponents rated well above 5.0, they produced some excellent performances and were involved in several very closely contested matches.

Cezar competed in the 15+ Mixed Doubles up to 3.49 category with Em MacNeill from Perth Pickleball Club. They battled hard and had a number of close games, but unfortunately were unable to progress from the group stages.

Congratulations to everyone who represented the club so well throughout the tournament.

Huge congratulations to Gillian and Lesley on winning the silver medal in the 15+ Women’s Doubles Under 3.49 yesterday. It was an incredibly close final, with a narrow 15–9 defeat. A fantastic achievement—well done to both of you!

Well done to Graeme Matheson narrowly losing 11-7 in the mens singles open, in such a hard event.

Good luck to everyone playing today.

A great second day at Meadowbank for the Scottish Open Mixed Doubles, with plenty of performances to be proud of and some fantastic achievements throughout the day.

In the up to 3.49 +60 category, Keith and Babs topped their group by winning all of their matches and progressed to the quarter-finals, where they were agonisingly edged out 11–10. In the 3.50–3.99 + 60 category, Bernie and Brian competed well in a very tough group, with several closely contested games.

In the up to 3.49 +50 category, there were more impressive performances. Sharon and Ron progressed from their group to reach the last 16, only losing to the eventual winners. Stuart and Lesley went one step further with an excellent run to the quarter-finals. Martyn and Chesca also performed strongly in a difficult group, with several incredibly close matches decided by a single point, and were unfortunate not to make the knockout stages.

In the 3.50–3.99 over 50 category, Mark and Kathy delivered a strong performance, jointly topping their group after an incredible comeback from 10–2 down to win 11–10. They then progressed to the last 12, narrowly losing 11–7.

Overall, it was a brilliant day, with amazing support from teammates in the stands cheering each other on between rounds. New friends were met from other clubs and we look forward to arranging these friendlies . Everyone should be incredibly proud of their performances today.

It was great to see so many from the club at the first day of the Scottish Open today. The event today featured 50+ and 60+ gender doubles, with plenty of close and hard-fought matches throughout the day.

Although there were no medals this time, congratulations to Claire and Babs, and Chesca and Susan, who both finished 3rd in their respective groups and narrowly missed out on progressing to the next round.

It was heartbreak for Mark and Keith, who just missed out on a semi-final place after a narrow 11–10 defeat in the quarter-final.

Good luck to everyone playing tomorrow in 50+ and 60+ mixed doubles

After falling 4–2 behind, Team Stewart produced a superb comeback to level the match at 4–4 and force a deciding final game. Congratulations to Pickleball Galashiels, who edged a highly competitive and hard-fought decider to secure a 5–4 victory and maintain their unbeaten record.
