John Slaughter Trophy Champion — and the Staffordshire Slam completed.

At just 15 years old, Alfie Turner - Trentham Golf Club has achieved something truly extraordinary. By winning the John Slaughter Trophy – Boys Matchplay, he has now secured every major Staffordshire honour across both Junior and Men’s categories.

This is the full Staffordshire Slam — a feat rarely seen, and almost unheard of at his age.

Alfie’s season has been defined by composure, maturity, and a competitive edge well beyond his years. To capture the county’s biggest titles so early in his career is a remarkable statement of talent and determination.

Huge congratulations, Alfie. A phenomenal achievement and a moment that will be remembered in Staffordshire golf for a long time. 👏👏👏

Summer 2026 is not over yet but it’s certainly one that will stick in the memory for all those turf managers out there. 😣
Despite the relentless heat and severe lack of rainfall, the course continues to receive unprecedented praise from members and visitors alike. 🙌

It’s our Captain’s Charity Day today, with all proceeds going to Dougie Mac.

Whether you’re playing in the shotgun today, bidding on the amazing auction lots or joining in with the raffle, there’s an amazing array of items up for grabs, with an amazing charity to benefit from member’s generosity.

BBQ on the patio following golf, with the auction and raffle from 1pm.

There’s still time to get involved so please head to the club this lunchtime if you can.
