Hazelhurst Vs. AFC Alsager Sundays
4th home game in a row for The Hurst, this time the Fused Sports League Cup 1st Round. We welcomed AFC Alsager to the Wembley of Chell, a team who have a 100% start to their season winning 4 in 4.
Game started quickly as expected, but The Hurst leaving nothing to chance and trying to get on the front foot early, we knew this game would be a graft and we were right. Alsager knocking the ball around nicely.
Massive moment early on in the first half saw Koang pick the ball up out wide, drive with it and release Grant through for a 1 on 1, which obviously he buried. We told you he’s class. Scenes. 1-0 Hurst.
More battling and picking the ball up from deep, Hurst trying to knock a few balls in behind and over the top, while the defensive line of Ross, Korrie, Yurri and Jay holding strong with a top display, so far.
Alsager starting to wake up now and keeping a ball a little better during their spells, but the Hurst lads ratting away and not giving them a moments peace, all that running Grant made us do pre-season was paying off now, for everyone other than Matt who came off “because of my Asthma”…
An Alsager attack was thwarted and a long ball was knocked into Ant, who wonderfully popped it around the corner between the centre halves for Koang to race onto. Another 1 on 1 with their keeper, this time one of the most outrageous finishes we’ve seen, got to the edge of the area with an onrushing keeper, Koang dinked it over the lad who couldn’t react and peeled off for a subdued celebration, when the rest of us rushed up the line screaming. Wow. 2-0 Hurst.
HT, Hazelhurst 2-0 AFC Alsager.
Second half begins and you could hear the Alsager team talk from Longton. Couldn’t tell you what was said though since their captain was scouse and it sounded like gargling pudding. Their lads must’ve had subtitles on though cos they came out much better.
Alsager knocked a ball down the left which caused a mix up between our defenders, no names on anything again which sent Korrie and Kieran into a fit of rage. Even more so when Kieran tracked the winger back into the box, forced him wide and then decided to clatter him in the box, the young lads shin pads came out his socks, honestly.
Anyway, the ref came over and decided that it was a shirt pull??? Our lino had his flag up long before this but ref knew best apparently! Lad stepped up, sent Nik the wrong way and game on. 2-1 Hurst.
Immediately after, Grant released down the wing yet again, took it wide and what may or may not have been a cross, he drilled it across the box and it nestled in the far corner. Their lads losing their minds now telling keeper he shouldn’t be beaten from that angle but it was hit at around 220mph, so give the lad some slack. Get in. 3-1 Hurst.
The game, as all our others when winning, starting getting a bit handbags now, their 16 decided he wanted to square up to Korrie, who had been in his ear all morning telling him he was s**t, ref saw it and called Captains over to sort it out. This wasn’t the first time it would happen either, but 16 didn’t have the stones to follow through anyway. And for those of you asking, Korrie was right, he is s**t.
We had a lad come on and not tell the ref he was the substitute, even though we told the ref we were making a sub and he stopped the game for it. Then, this is the best bit, he was sent back off to remove an earring and told to wait 1 minute. Instead, earring was removed and entered the pitch immediately to try and stop a counter attack, ref saw it and gave him a swift yellow card for what was the most ridiculous moment of the day. Cheers ref.
A foul was given in favour of The Hurst and the sideline erupted, none more so than Blinco, who told the ref to “open your fu***ng ears then ref, what you playing at”… you guessed it, the man in the middle marched over and brandished a red for Ant. See you in 2 games pal, SINABIH.
Alsager win a FK late on and to be fair, class ball in and a bullet header made it 3-2, lads were sweating like the back of a turkeys kneecap now. 3-2 Hurst.
Around 3 minutes to play, Alsager had a long throw lobbed in and committed everyone to attack our box, Nik left it for Jay, Jay left it for Nik, leaving our defenders to scramble. It didn’t look to touch anyone on the way through but yeah, some of our lads reckon it did and the ref said it did so that’s all she wrote. 3-3… penalties looming.
FT, Hazelhurst 3-3 AFC Alsager.
Kieran rallied the troops, and 5 lads with balls like sandbags stepped up to take one.

MOTM - Koang. One of the best first halves of football we’ve ever seen, untouchable. Goal and assist.
KOTW - Matt. The lad had personalised shin pads, not just personalised shin pads, but LEEK CSOB? Your guess is as good as mine. Karaoke for you!
