🏔️ Would you queue for an hour at the top of a mountain?
An hour-long queue at the top of Yr Wyddfa—but did you know there are several impressive mountain and upland walks much closer to Swansea? Would you wait for the summit photo or choose somewhere quieter? 🏔️🥾

Walkers visiting Yr Wyddfa—also known as Snowdon—have reportedly been waiting up to an hour to take a photograph at its famous summit marker.
Yr Wyddfa is around a 3-hour 20-minute drive from Swansea, but you don’t have to travel to North Wales to enjoy a rewarding climb.

Some closer alternatives include:
🥾 Penlle’r Castell, Mynydd y Gwair – the highest point in Swansea, with beautiful upland views.
🏞️ Llyn y Fan Fach and the Carmarthen Fans – a spectacular glacial lake, with routes continuing to Waun Lefrith and Picws Du.
⛰️ Fan Brycheiniog – the highest peak in the Black Mountain range and a proper mountain challenge.
🌄 Pen y Fan and Corn Du – the two highest peaks in southern Britain, although they can also become busy during fine weather.
Would you wait an hour for the summit photograph—or head somewhere quieter? Let us know below! 👇
⚠️ Mountain weather can change quickly. Always check the forecast, select a route suitable for your experience, and take appropriate clothing, food, water and navigation equipment.

Few British traditions are more sacred than the unspoken rule of forming an orderly queue.

But this age-old etiquette has been tested to breaking point in Snowdonia, where hikers have been warned not to skip the queue at the top of Wales’s highest mountain after a series of rows...

How to Live on Earth | Official Trailer 23/08/2026

🌍 A Sunday thought: what if we worked with nature, rather than against it?
Watching Sunday Brunch this morning, we heard about How to Live on Earth—a new documentary presented by Benedict Cumberbatch.
Rather than focusing only on environmental problems, the film shares hopeful examples of people and communities working alongside nature to create a healthier future.
It feels particularly relevant here in Swansea, where we’re fortunate to have the coast, countryside, wildlife and remarkable landscapes of Gower right on our doorstep. Protecting these places doesn’t always require a grand gesture—small choices and community action can make a real difference too. 🌿🌊
The documentary is expected to be released globally on YouTube in September. In the meantime, you can watch the official trailer here.
What is one small thing you do—or would like to start doing—to help protect nature where you live?

The film’s official website confirms that it is presented by Benedict Cumberbatch, directed by Fredi Devas and explores how people can work with nature to tackle shared challenges. Its own YouTube material states that the global release is planned for September 2026. Official film website.
