Unfortunately, tonight’s Quiz Night at Waunarlwydd RFC has been cancelled due to our quizmaster being unwell.

☀️ PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY CANCELLED 🏉

Unfortunately, this Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Llanharan RFC has been cancelled.

The prolonged dry and sunny weather has left the pitch extremely hard and, after assessing the conditions, we don’t believe it would be right to put players from either club at unnecessary risk of injury.

As much as we’d love to get some rugby played, player safety has to come first.

We’re sure we won’t say this very often in Waunarlwydd… but a bit of rain wouldn’t go amiss! 🌧️😂

Thanks to Llanharan for their understanding, and we look forward to getting back on the pitch soon. 🟢⚫️

Wattsy puts a huge amount of time and effort into the junior section, both behind the scenes and out on the training field. Like so many of our volunteers, the work he does helps keep grassroots rugby going and gives our young players the opportunity to enjoy their rugby. 💚

We’re delighted to announce that Joel “The Prince” Matuschke has been voted Waunarlwydd RFC First XV Captain for the upcoming season! 🟢⚫️

A huge congratulations to Joel — a massive honour to be chosen by your teammates to lead the side. 👏

We know he’ll lead from the front, so let’s get right behind The Prince and the boys as we head into the new season. 💪

Please Join Us in Congratulating Professor Adrian Evans

Waunarlwydd RFC is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Adrian Evans MBBS, MD, FRCS, FCEM as the new President of Waunarlwydd Rugby Football Club.

Professor Evans has a lifelong connection with Waunarlwydd RFC, earning his Welsh Youth Cap while playing for the club before progressing through the senior ranks. His rugby journey continued with Llanelli, London Welsh, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, before establishing an outstanding career in emergency medicine, research and medical education. Today, he is Professor Emeritus at Swansea University and is recognised as one of Wales’ leading figures in emergency medicine and haemostasis.

His appointment as President recognises not only his remarkable professional achievements, but also his enduring connection to our club and the values of commitment, excellence and community that Waunarlwydd RFC represents.

We would like to thank our Life Members for proposing and seconding Professor Evans’ nomination, and we look forward to welcoming him into his new role as we continue to build on the proud history of Waunarlwydd RFC.

🏆 WRU Division 1 Cup – Round One 🏆

The 2026/27 WRU Division 1 Cup campaign begins on Saturday 3rd October, when we welcome Heol Y Cyw RFC to Waunarlwydd.

🕝 Kick-off: 2:30pm

There’s plenty of rugby to be played before then, but it’s always exciting to see the cup draw announced. We’ve also included an updated first-team fixture list in the images attached to this post, so be sure to save it and keep it handy throughout the season.
