Lantern Villa 7-3 Sutton Colron blues.

Not a great start today with the pitch not being marked out correctly and the ref not turning up.
We improvised getting a parent to ref and marking the lines ourselves so the lads could play.

We started off strong playing great football along the way. Going 1- nil up, shortly before conceding a penalty. The lads worked on what we did in training and we commanded majority of the game. The last 15 minutes was tough as the team had to dig in. Tired legs saw us give away another 2 penalties. Nothing but respect for the effort to day guys.

Dans player of the match was Bentley. Bentley was determined to put on a masterclass from the start. He cleared up any danger fearlessly, throwing his body in front of everything and everyone, even the opposition manager went out of his way to commend him👌👍.

Sam’s player of the match was Mason. After playing the first half as our goalkeeper, pulling off a few saves, commanding his area and confidently distributing any back passes to scoring one of the best hat tricks I’ve seen in the WJY. 🎉👌.

Bustleholme dynomos 2-4 Lantern Villa

We came up against a very technical team today who made it difficult for us all over the pitch. After taking an early 2 goal lead,it got us thinking it would be a walk in the park, how wrong was we.
Fair play to Bustleholme, they played some fantastic football but we got game won by pure grit and physicality in the end.
Well done lads.👏👏

Dans player of the match was Kirat, who again played in the sticks the first half. Being 6 foot plus, he commanded his area first half and centre midfield the second, even trying an audacious attempt from the halfway line, missing out by millimetres.👌

Sam’s player of the match was Daniel. Playing the first half has our false 9, and second has a striker, he didn’t stop working chasing down the ball constantly. He gave his team mates options and even asking to come off for a breather knowing he’d given 100%. A great attitude 👌

Lantern Villa 4-1 Brownhills community colts

First league game back was sealed with a convincing win. After going behind against the run of play, the team gave everything and blew off the cobwebs whilst controlling the game.
A strike from our captain Alfie bought us level, before a brace from Tyler and Mason notching his first of the season.

Our defence was calm and collected, midfield was organised and our forwards were relentless.

Dan’s player of the match was Mason. After playing in goal first half, he ran his socks off in the second, using his strength and quick feet to win the ball before scoring a screamer with his sweet left peg.

Sam’s player of the match was Brooksy. After playing the first half as our left wing back, we put Brooksy centre midfield, where he held his position with discipline, giving our attackers plenty of service.

A special shout out to Mason and Kirat. With no official goalkeeper, these two offered to play half each. Both of them are ballers in their natural positions, however took to the gk role with ease, thank you 👏👏👏.

Lantern Villa 7-1 Brunswick

Signed off our season with a bang. No subs, 26 degrees , pure commitment and discipline with nothing but respect and admiration from the coaches.
The lads let the ball do the work and controlled the game from start to finish with some brilliant football played👍.

Our parents player was Blake M. One of 2 who played out of position today, as right wing back. Our conker tree never let nothing past him, kept tight to the opposition winger and never once let him turn. A geniune utility player that can play anywhere, and always with a smile 👊

Our managers player was the second player to play out of position, Bentley. An absolute rock in centre defence, winning header after header and challenge after challenge. We do struggle to get a smile out of him, but we’ll settle for that if he plays like today every week👍

We as a football club would like to thank everyone for supporting us lastnight. The turnout was unreal with over 100 people cheering for us.
Unfortunately it wasn’t our night but you can’t win them all. League winners and Walsall cup runners up isn’t a bad way to finish our first season.

Well done boys, you left it all on the pitch, which is all we ask of you.

Gates open at 7.00 p.m.

The entry fee is £2.00 per adult (children under the age of 16 are free of charge, but they MUST be accompanied by a supervising Adult who is over 18 years of age maximum 2 children per adult free). No one under 16 will be allowed in without an adult.

Please come along to support both teams and join us to celebrate.
