​Beyond his talent and dedication on the cricket field, Ruhul was, above all, a deeply humble, kind, and beautiful human being. his warmth, gentle spirit, and infectious smile brought light to our match days and touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

​He wasn’t just a teammate; he was family.
​The loss of a soul so kind leaves a void that words can never truly fill. We will forever cherish the moments we shared, both on and off the pitch.

​Our deepest, most heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and everyone grieving this immense tragedy, we stand with you in this time of unimaginable sorrow.

​The cricket gods smiled down on both teams, blessing the day with the absolute best of British weather, the atmosphere? electric! ⚡️ there were moves, grooves, and non-stop smiles both on and off the pitch. 🎶🕺

​Gerries won the toss and decided to set the pace and oh, what a walkout it was! the batsmen strode out to the middle in true superstar style, soundtracked by some of the greatest retro anthems of yesterday. 🎵🎤

​On the pitch, they meant business:
​Kyson Chugg set an early, elegant tempo with a well-timed 32 runs.
​Krish Suresh kept the momentum flowing with a solid 25.
​Anthony Boughton anchor-dropped an explosive, timely 48 to power the scoreboard.
​Gerries wrapped up their 40 overs with a highly respectable 183, Unity’s own Pankaj Kumar, who was the pick of the bowlers with stellar figures of 2-11! 🎯🔥

​Chasing 184, Walsall Unity came out with all guns blazing! 🚀

​Jawed Khan gave Unity an absolute flyer, smashing a rapid 42 to set the tone, but the story of the innings belonged to 14-year-old Sabihaq, playing in only his third ever cricket match, the youngster showed nerves of steel, grafting a magnificent 46 runs, he fell just agonizingly short of a dream maiden 50, but he won the hearts of everyone watching! 👏❤️

​Unity crossed the finishing line in style in just the 26th over, with Asif Rahman steering them home (10 not out), despite a brilliant bowling spell from Gerries’ Robert Funeox, who fought hard with 3-24! 🌪️

Thursday night delivered another absolute classic as a new look Sandwell Hospital Staff used all their experience to edge out Walsall Unity in a tense T20 thriller.🫣

Choosing to set a target, Walsall Unity walked out with intent but found themselves up against a fiercely disciplined Sandwell bowling attack. Standing tall amid the pressure were Unity's two exciting debutants, Piash Sarkar and Redwan Hussan.⚡

Sarkar played with freedom to notch up a vital 26, while Hussan showed immense maturity for his 21. The duo injected genuine belief into the Unity camp, showing glimpses of a very bright future ahead.🔆

However, Sandwell Hospital Staff refused to let the game break away backing up their bowlers, Sandwell put on a masterclass in the field, a display of extraordinary, flying stops and clinical catching restricted Walsall Unity to a competitive 145-6 off their 20 overs.

The Chase: Cool Heads Cross the Line🚓

Chasing 146 for victory, Sandwell Hospital Staff meant business from ball one. Deepak Sharma spearheaded the response, launching a blistering 38 run assault that instantly put Unity on the back foot.🏏

Walsall Unity struggled to find their rhythm early on, conceding crucial extras with some wayward bowling. Yet, just as Sandwell looked ready to run away with it, Unity fighting spirit sparked back to life, young Pratham Kumar turned the screw with a timely restrictive spell, finishing as the pick of the Unity bowlers with stellar figures of 2-14.👏

With the game hanging on a knife-edge, enter Mujeeb Makki, showing nerves of steel 🔩 Makki anchored the back end of the chase with a priceless, unbeaten 26. Keeping his cool under immense pressure, he guided Sandwell across the finish line in the 18th over, sparking celebrations from the Hospital Staff bench.

​Winning the toss on a notoriously tricky, "sticky wicket," Walsall Unity found themselves in immediate trouble. early wickets fell as the ball misbehaved off the pitch, ​while Rehan Hussain (15) showed tremendous grit to weather the initial storm, Unity continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Enter Edward Myers playing a confident combative innings, Myers made a determined and vital 35 runs, single-handedly dragging Unity to a defendable 84 runs in the rain-reduced 35-over match, Hamza (3-23) the pick of the bowlers.

At the halfway mark, the West Midlands Police Veterans walked into the pavilion highly confident, chasing a modest 85 for victory.

​Whatever was said in the Walsall Unity dressing room over tea worked miracles, they took the field possessing an entirely different energy.💪
​Manpreet Singh (3-15) set the tone with a lethal opening spell with the new ball, shattering the top order, just as the Veterans tried to rebuild, the "Spin Twins" were introduced and they completely turned the game upside down. Pankaj Kumar (3-7) and Rahul Nana (3-11) bowled with microscopic accuracy 🔬hitting perfect lengths and rattling the batsmen, backed by some energetic fielding, only Harvey (15) offered any real resistance as West Midlands Police Veterans collapsed to 54 all out, Unity winning by 30 runs.💎

​The defining moment of the match came from young 13 year old Sabihaq, playing in only his second-ever game of cricket, he tracked a high ball, sprinted backward, and plucked a breathtaking catch out of the sky, sending the Unity fileders into absolute raptures.🪄

Despite the fierce, low-scoring tussle on the pitch, the day was a magnificent showcase of sportsmanship. The West Midlands Police Veterans proved to be great hosts, with both teams putting rivalries aside at the interval to share a delicious half-time tea courtesy of the home side.🥘

​Walsall Unity delivered a comprehensive performance on Tuesday, securing a 77-run victory over Birmingham University (Cricsoc) in a high-spirited 18-over clash.✨

The day belonged to the newcomers with clinical displays across all departments.

Unity set the pace ​after losing an early wicket and stabilized their innings through disciplined batting and aggressive middle-order play.🔥

Shoaib Akhtar (36) continued his fine form and with Ansar Ali (14) anchored the recovery with a vital 50-run partnership. Akhtar, in particular, impressed the onlookers with a sequence of classic cricket shots.💥

​The Acceleration:

Awais Jawed (27) kept the momentum high, setting the stage for Muhammad Shafiq, who reached a personal milestone by scoring his maiden T20 half-century (53) as Unity ended on a respectable 169-6-18 overs, Birmingham University's bowlers fought to contain the total, with Gibbons (2-19) and Zesty (2-28) emerging as the most effective threats.

In a "dream debut," Ed Myers proved to be a force of nature behind the stumps, his lightning-quick glovework accounting for two stumpings and a sharp catch⚡🌀

The batsman had no answer for the spin duo of Loverpreet Singh and Pratham Kumar, Singh producing a blistering spell to claim (5-11) marking his maiden five-wicket haul and 12-year-old Kumar showed maturity beyond his years with figures of 2-11.🪄

Birmingham University were bowled out for 92 runs in under 13 overs, Walsall Unity winning by 77 runs.
The match concluded on a high note of sportsmanship, with Unity offering a shout-out to the Cricsoc squad for a competitive and "very sporty" encounter in the first of two T20s.🫡
