AGM is this Friday 25th September

Our Annual General Meeting is coming up and we'd love to see as many of you there as possible.

Friday 25th September
7:30 PM
Meeting room upstairs, Wellington Sports Centre (same venue as last year)

This is your chance to have your say on how the club runs. We'll be going over the club's direction for the year ahead, some upcoming changes, committee positions, and announcing this year's award winner.

Whether you've been with us for years or just started coming along, your input matters.

The AGM will be followed by our normal Friday club night in the pool.

Summer's over, autumn is here and that means kayak season is open!

Pool sessions are back this Friday 11th September at the usual time meet at 8pm at wellington leisure centre, in the pool by 8:30

The first part of the evening is for skills, rolling, rescues, or just having fun in a boat, then we finish off with a friendly game of polo from 9:15.
All abilities and ages welcome - £8 adults, £6 children.
If you've ever fancied giving kayaking a go, this is the perfect way to start. Bring a friend!

River trip season kicks off at the end of September too, so members check your email for the trip list. Trips depend on river levels and weather, so keep an eye out for confirmations nearer the time.

Pool sessions - summer break
Friday pool sessions are now closed for the summer. We'll be back on Friday 11th September.
The usual format when we return:

Arrive 8:00 PM
In the pool by 8:30 PM
Skills, rolling, rescues and general boat confidence until 9:15 PM
Friendly polo until 10:00 PM

£8 adults, £6 children. All kit is provided, so if you've never been in a kayak before you can just turn up and give it a go, everyone is welcome, whatever your experience.

In the meantime, keep an eye on the page for the occasional sea trip over the summer. River trips start again from September when the rain returns and levels allow, those are free, other than a share of the petrol if you're getting a lift.

Club trip: St Crépin, French Alps

Seven of us from Wellington Kayak Club have just got back from an unforgettable week camping and paddling in St Crépin in the French Alps, and what a week it was.

The rivers around the Durance valley are glacial-fed, so the water was crystal clear and freezing straight off the mountains, all under blazing 35°C sunshine. Quite the combination.

The region has something for everyone, from cruisy grade 2 water right up to punchy grade 5 rapids, so there was a challenge waiting whatever your level. Add in stunning alpine scenery and evenings around the campfire, and it made for a brilliant week both on and off the water.

Trips like this are exactly where our Friday pool sessions can take you. Everyone is welcome at the club, whatever your experience, come along, build your skills, and who knows where you'll be paddling next.

Pool Sessions are back on this Friday!

Wellington Kayak Club pool sessions return at Wellington Sports Centre. Sessions run every Friday evening from 8.15pm.

New paddlers are welcome!
If you're considering joining or want to see what club kayaking involves, come along and give it a try - it's a great way to have fun and get fit, just drop us a message to let us know your coming.

We run river trips every Sunday from September to March when conditions allow on local rivers.

Pool Session Update

Just a heads-up that there will be no pool sessions over the Easter half-term break:

We'll be back as normal on Friday 17th April - doors open at 8pm, pool entry at 8:30pm.

Thanks to everyone who came along to our first pool session back after the Christmas break.
It was great to see so many new faces alongside our regulars. We hope you enjoyed getting on the water.

Pool sessions continue every Friday evening at Wellington Sports Centre from 8.15pm. All ages and abilities are welcome, whether you want to learn new skills, have some fun, or try your hand at polo.
If you couldn't make it this week, there's always next Friday. All equipment is provided and no experience is needed.
