WHO THE F**K ARE BASSO? 🇮🇹

We keep hearing it…

“Basso? Never heard of them.”

Well, allow us to introduce you.

Born in 1977 in Vicenza, Italy, Alcide Basso started building frames by hand. Nearly 50 years later, Basso is still family-owned, Italian, handmade and seriously obsessed with the details.

Now the next generation, Leonardo Basso, is helping drive the company forward, building bikes around actual riders, not just chasing numbers for the sake of racing.

They listen to riders. Bike fitters. Customers.

And then they make ridiculously good bikes.

Diamante. Astra. Palta. SV.

Beautiful, fast, incredibly well engineered but most importantly, bikes that are fu***ng brilliant to ride.

Then there was the MAAP x Basso.

One of the coolest collaborations ever: Australian attitude, Italian carbon and graphics that looked absolutely mental.

And here’s an Easter egg…

SHAUN CASH.

Yep. Original-era Parkway Drive bassist.

He also raced on the MAAP/Basso team.

So basically…

BASSO IS F**KING METAL. 🤘

And that’s exactly why we’re bringing them to Cadence Cycleworks.

You could buy a Trek.
A Specialized.
A Giant.

They’re all great bikes.

But when you’re spending serious money, why ride the same thing as everyone else?

For similar money, you can have something genuinely different.

Something handmade in Italy.

Something your mate probably hasn’t got.

Something with soul.

BASSO BIKES 🇮🇹

Punk rock attitude.
Italian craftsmanship.
Premium road bikes.
Zero interest in being boring.

🚲 Cadence Cycleworks Critical Mass – Coming Soon???? 🚲

We’re thinking about starting something special.

A monthly Critical Mass ride for the cyclists of Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, Mytholmroyd, Halifax, and the wider West Yorkshire cycling community.

But what exactly is Critical Mass?

Traditionally, Critical Mass takes place on the last Friday of every month in cities around the world. It’s a social, community-led ride designed to celebrate cycling while raising awareness of cyclists on our roads.

This isn’t a race.

It’s not about watts, KOMs, Strava segments, or what bike you ride.

It’s about bringing together everyone who rides.

Road riders. Gravel riders. Mountain bikers. Commuters. E-bike riders. Families. Bikepackers. Weekend cafĂŠ riders. Everyone.

The plan is simple:

🚲 A relaxed, social ride at an easy pace

🎵 Good music and good company

🌿 A scenic route through the Calder Valley

🍻 Finishing with a drink at a local pub or brewery

✊ Raising awareness and showing that cycling is alive and thriving in our communities

The more riders we have, the stronger the message becomes.

Would you join us?

If there’s enough interest, we’ll launch our first Cadence Cycleworks Critical Mass ride on the last Friday of the month.

Tag your riding mates, share this post, and let us know if you’re in.

Let’s bring the cycling community of West Yorkshire together. 🚴

4 riders. 40 km. One awesome night.

We rolled out with one goal: climb into the hills and catch the solar eclipse from the best seat in the house.

The route didn’t disappoint. Steep roads, tired legs, plenty of laughs, and a sky that put on an unforgettable show.

This is what Cadence CycleWorks is all about. Good people, great bikes, and rides that turn into stories you’ll be talking about for weeks.

Absolutely awesome from start to finish.

Check out these pictures and take a look at the route on Strava the group

Same again next week?

See you there. 🚲⚡🌘

🌑 WHEN THE SUN SLEEPS 🌑

This Wednesday, we’re riding straight into the darkness.

The Cadence Cycleworks shop ride rolls out from Tod Roundabout at 6pm, heading out for a good loop before stopping somewhere with a decent view of the eclipse. We may even have some viewing glasses to hand out. 👀

Then we ride back together and finish up at The B**r Necessities with some very necessary sports drinks.

No big ceremony. Just fast bikes, good people, and the brief feeling that the world might be ending.

MECHANIC WANTED

Build bikes. Break rules. Never cut corners.

Cadence Cycleworks isn’t your average bike shop. We’re working towards being a premium workshop obsessed with boutique builds, meticulous servicing, and doing things properly. From custom dream machines to race-day workhorses, we treat every bike like it’s our own.

We’re looking for someone to join the crew for a few days each week.

Not just someone who can turn a spanner, someone who gets it.

You live and breathe road cycling. You know why Campagnolo still matters, why HOPE is a work of art, and you know your Pogačar from your Van der Poel.

What we’re looking for

* A genuine passion for road cycling.
* Solid mechanical experience and confidence working independently.
* You know your way around workshop tools and understand the right tool for every job.
* Confident working on everything from mechanical drivetrains to the latest electronic groupsets.
* Experienced installing and troubleshooting Shimano Di2.
* Confident bleeding hydraulic brakes, setting up drivetrains, fitting bearings and building bikes to an uncompromising standard.
* Pride in your work. No shortcuts. No “that’ll do.”

Bonus points if…

* Wheel building is your thing.
* You’ve worked with Campagnolo, Shimano, SRAM, HOPE, ENVE, Chris King and other boutique components.
* You appreciate clean cable routing more than most people appreciate art.

The vibe

We’re a workshop first. We care about craftsmanship, attention to detail, and building bikes that leave better than they arrived.

Good coffee. Good music. Punk rock attitude. Precision engineering.

If you’re the kind of mechanic who notices a misaligned brake caliper from across the room, gets excited by immaculate cable routing, and believes every torque setting matters, you’ll fit right in.

Think you’ve got what it takes?

Drop us a message. Tell us about yourself, your riding, your workshop experience, and a few bikes you’ve built or are proud of.
