🏏 POTM Round-Up 🏏
Sam Nash takes 1st XI POTM after a battling 37, with and Toby Zapp both claiming 3 wickets. Despite the teams efforts, the opposition out batted and bowled us to secure a deserved victory. We’d also like to thank Nashy for the games he’s played and hope to welcome him back very soon!
For the 2nd XI, Sam Sugars claims POTM after a superb spell of 4-13 at just 1.63 economy, earning the nod from umpire Neil Woods 👏🏏
He was well backed up by Dan Smith (3 wickets) as Ripley bowled Weybridge out for 166. In reply, David Hughes 53* and Haroon Jamil 57* shared a match-winning partnership to continue the 2s excellent form! Some great batting by the pair🟢💪
In the Sunday XI, David Hughes continues his good form and takes POTM after an unbeaten 50, along with a catch and a stumping behind the wickets 🏏👏
With the ball, Cicely MB, Freddie MB, Tim Russell and Mike Anning all picked up 2 wickets. Cicely MB (46), Tim Russell (24) and Adrian (21) kept Ripley in the hunt, but the side ultimately fell just 13 runs short.
A positive weekend across the club, with the 2s continuing their strong run and two huge fixtures coming up this Saturday! 🟢🏏

🏏 Always a proud moment when one of our juniors makes their senior debut!
A huge congratulations to Barney Allam on making his 2nd XI debut last week in an emphatic victory over Weybridge 4s👏
Barney made an excellent contribution, taking a catch and returning figures of 4 overs for 18 runs. Top-order runs from David Hughes and Haroon Jamil, both scoring half-centuries, helped seal a convincing win for the 2s 💪
It was also a special occasion on Sunday as our Club Secretary, Mike Anning, had the privilege of playing alongside his daughter Olivia, another of our junior graduates. Moments like these are what cricket clubs are all about 🟢🏏

🏏 POTM Round-Up 🏏
takes 1st XI POTM after a match-winning all-round performance, scoring 55 runs in Ripley’s successful chase of 171 👏🏏
George’s innings included 8 fours and 2 sixes, while he also played his part with the ball, returning impressive figures of 9 overs for 23 runs. In the chase, he was well supported by Matt Harris (42), Tom Clover (24) and , who fittingly hit the winning boundary to finish unbeaten on 23 🟢🏏
Earlier in the day, Jack starred with the ball, taking 4-25 from 6.2 overs, while Toby Zapp produced another excellent spell, claiming 3-22 from 9 overs. An outstanding team performance sees the 1s make it back-to-back victories. Can they make it three in a row against Chertsey? 💪
For the 2nd XI, Toby Baddock claims POTM after an attacking 46 from just 36 balls, striking 7 fours at a superb strike rate of 124 👏🏏
With the ball, Sam Sugars (3-27 from 8) and Gerrard Baker (3-34 from 8) led the attack with three wickets apiece, while Dan Smith bowled brilliantly to take 2-12 from his 8 overs. Defending a low total against the league leaders was always going to be tough, and despite a determined effort, Merrow reached the target in the 32nd over. A few extra runs and the outcome could have been very different against the division’s top side.
In the Sunday XI, makes his second appearance of the week, claiming another POTM after a superb 82 from 71 balls, including 14 fours at a strike rate of 115.49 🏏👏
George was well supported by Matt Russell (46) and John Grimsdale (29) as Ripley posted a competitive 204. However, the standout moment of the day belonged to , who produced an incredible spell by taking 4 wickets in 4 balls and was agonisingly denied the chance of 5 wickets in 5 balls by a dropped catch. A remarkable effort and one he will hopefully build upon in the remaining league fixtures. Unfortunately, Pyrford chased the target down in the final over, bringing a thrilling contest to a close. A fantastic weekend of cricket and only a handful of fixtures left to play! 🟢🏏
