Turning Safety Stops into Pure Joy!
Have you ever tried blowing bubble rings on a safety stop, or swam through one yourself? Let us know in the comments!
Safety stops don't have to be just counting down three minutes at 5 meters—sometimes they turn into the best memory of the entire dive!
Watch Stuart Joiner's face light up with pure, genuine happiness as he swims through a silver bubble ring underwater. It’s those playful, effortless moments underwater that remind us why we love diving so much.
How to Blow an Underwater Bubble Ring 🫧
Want to try this on your next dive? It takes a bit of practice, but here is how to master the technique:
Get Horizontal & Look Up: Lie flat on your back or tilt your head back completely so your face is parallel to the surface.
Remove Your Regulator: Take your regulator out (remember to keep gently exhaling a small trickle of bubbles while it’s out!).
Trap a Pocket of Air: Let a small pool of air gather behind your lips inside your mouth.
The Pop: Form a tight "O" shape with your lips, then forcefully pop your tongue forward—just like making a sharp "P" or "T" sound—to launch a single pulse of air straight up.
Let Physics Do the Rest: As the air travels upward, friction from the surrounding water causes the edges of the air pulse to curl back on itself, forming a spinning, expanding vortex ring!
