What a weekend.

If I'm honest, Friday and Saturday were probably the toughest days we've had all season. It was almost like Thomas had forgotten how to ride a bike. He kept making the same mistakes lap after lap, wasn't taking on board what we were trying to tell him, and expected the lap times to improve... unfortunately, they didn't.

I was that frustrated during the second qualifying session that I actually had to walk away. Not because of the lap times, but because I knew exactly what Thomas was capable of, and he just wasn't showing it.

Qualifying left Thomas 14th out of 22, and under the FAB rules that's where he had to start every race all weekend.

Before Race 1 on Saturday, we sat down and had a proper father-and-son chat. I asked him one simple question...

"Are you going to show everyone what you can do, or are you going to let them think 14th is where you belong?"

That seemed to light a fire.

From the lights, Thomas was a completely different rider. His lines were so much better, he rode with confidence, was aggressive when he needed to be, and fought his way from 14th to 8th. It wasn't perfect, but it was much closer to the rider we all know he can be.

Sunday morning he arrived fired up and ready to go.

Race 2 was shaping up to be something special. Starting from 14th once again, Thomas picked riders off one by one and had worked his way all the way up to 6th place. It looked like another brilliant ride was on the cards.

Unfortunately, in some very close racing he was punted off the track and into the tyre wall. It took him a couple of laps to get the bike restarted, but instead of giving up, he got back out and finished the race. The result didn't show the pace he had, but every lap was another opportunity to learn ahead of the final race.

By Race 3, Thomas had something to prove.

He rode with confidence, attacked from the first corner, and brought the bike home in 7th place after another great ride through the field.

As good as those race results were, I couldn't help but think...

Imagine if we'd been starting 7th instead of finishing there.

We'll never know, but hopefully this weekend has taught us a valuable lesson. Qualifying is just as important as race day, and you can't expect the lap times to improve if you keep making the same mistakes. Sometimes you have to listen, make changes and trust the people around you.

There are some huge positives to take away though. We've finally figured out how to get the 190 off the line, and Thomas has learned how important it is to be aggressive into that first corner. Those were two big areas we've been working on, and I couldn't have asked for much more by the end of the weekend.

Every weekend is another lesson, and this one probably taught us more than most.

Now it's time to turn our attention to BMB at Three Sisters this weekend. We'll take everything we've learned, keep moving forward, and see what we can do.

Back at it again! 🏁 Ellough Park Fab racing

It really is non-stop for us at the minute, and I think we’re all starting to feel it!

Today wasn’t our strongest day. Thomas struggled to find the pace for most of the sessions before finally putting things together in the last one.

At the start of the day he asked for a new set of tyres, but I decided to make do with what we had. Looking back at them now… maybe I should have listened! 😂

Either way, he’s done exactly what racers have to do sometimes—got his head down and ridden on tyres that were well past their best.

We were around half a second off the pace we’d expect. Whether that’s down to the tyres or not, we’ll soon find out with a fresh set tomorrow.

A massive thank you to Wilson Dilks for taking the time to help Thomas today and showing him where he can improve. It’s great to have people willing to pass on their knowledge, and it’s hugely appreciated.

Fresh tyres, another day of racing, and another chance to move forward tomorrow.

🔥 New look… well, sort of! 🔥

First of all, a huge thank you to Custom MX for pulling this together for us at such short notice.

This isn’t actually the finished design. We’ve gone for a temporary colour scheme because the final version will feature fluorescent high-vis red, which needs layering and a lot more time to produce properly.

The problem is… we’re racing pretty much every weekend at the moment, so I simply can’t let the bike disappear long enough to get the full graphics kit made and fitted.

Instead, he’s templated the whole bike and produced this temporary set so we can keep racing while he works on the final version.

I honestly can’t thank him enough. The quality, attention to detail and turnaround have been incredible.

There are still a few tweaks to come before the final edition is finished…

But I think you’ll agree…
