A Weekend to Remember at Lough Rinn! 🚣‍♂️🥇
Lough Rinn truly came of age as a premier national rowing venue this weekend, hosting the spectacular Rowing Ireland 1k Classic Regatta with 682 crews across 42 events. With almost perfect weather finally smiling on South Leitrim, especially on Sunday, it was an unforgettable showcase of Ireland’s top J13-J15 talent!

Carrick Rowing Club put in a series of excellent performances against the country's best, finishing with an impressive haul of 4 gold medals, 2 second place finishes and brilliant racing across the board

Saturday Highlights: Young Fionnán Kelly claimed a brilliant gold in the J13 single sculls (competing a year underage!), while Éanna Kelly clinched a fantastic second place in the J14 singles. Riain O'Donaile added a strong 3rd in the J15 singles, alongside valuable experience gained by our J14 girls' 4x+ crew!

Sunday Morning Thrills: The J15 boys' quad (Adam O'Brien, Darragh Ryan, Darragh Holohan, Krystian Wach, cox Riain O'Donaile) timed their final sprint to perfection to win a thriller against Enniskillen and Commercial RC. Moments later, the J14 boys' quad (Ruben Lowe, Éanna Kelly, Fionnán Kelly, Senan Moran, cox Nessa Flynn) dug deep to secure a nail-biting half-length victory over Cork Boat Club & Commercial RC in their final!

Ruben Lowe and Éanna Kelly capped off an exceptional weekend by returning to the water to claim gold in the MJ14 double sculls.

We also had super racing from our other boats including Aoibhe & Caoilinn in the WJ15 2x, Fionnan / Bearach and Senan / Tadgh in the MJ14 2x, Adam / Krystian and Darragh / Darragh in the MJ15 2x and our girls J13 4x+ who got their first taste of national level competition on a multi lane course.

From fantastic racing to Lough Rinn solidifying its place as Ireland's top venue outside of Cork, the future of Carrick rowing is shining bright as we look toward the 2026/27 season! 🌟

Footnote - poignant and apt that the two quad scull wins for our J14 & J15 boys were achieved in the boat 'Tony Keane' - no better man to have on your side when you need the Gods smiling down on you in those really tight races.

The Sunday afternoon session of the Rowing Ireland 1k Classic in Lough Rinn Sport & Recreation Hub comes to a close and the club picks up another fantastic win, this time Ruben Lowe and Eanna Kelly in the MJ14 2x, to add to the J14 4x+ win they had in this mornings session. A fantasitic result for the two lads who have been impressive all year. We'll have a full recap of the weekend and more photos of a fabulous weekend for the club shortly

Morning session of Day 2 of the 1k Classic and we couldn't be prouder. 2 boats racing and 2 golds. First up our J15 4x+ who had a ding d**g battle with Enniskillen and Commercial at the front end of the race with our lads timing the sprint to perfection to take the win while our J14 4x+ had a titanic battle with Cork out at the front end of the race keeping their nose ahead to take a half length win. 6 Double Sculls out in the afternoon session

Super first day at the Rowing Ireland 1k Classic Regatta in Lough Rinn today. Breezy but very manageable conditions throughout the day which seen some great racing across the categories.
The quieter of the two days for us in Carrick as we only had our four single sculls and girls J14 4x+ on the water.
Massive congrats to Fionnán Kelly who took home gold in the J13 single (a year underage), Éanna Kelly a very close second in the J14 singles with Ruben Lowe also producing a great row to take 4th in the same event. Riain O'Donaile had a great row to take third in his J15 singles race while our J14 girls 4x+ had a great row in their first event of this type - a great learning experience for them.

Tomorrow see's our bigger boats take to the water including the girls J13 4x+ and our J14 and J15 boys & girls in 4x's and 2x's - 8 boats out tomorrow in total. Racing kicks off at 9am in Lough Rinn and runs until mid afternoon with the forecast tomorrow much calmer than today.
