Thank you to everyone who joined us at the GAA Museum for Culture Night and a huge thanks to the Artane Band for an incredible live performance from pop songs to the Green & Red of Mayo 🎶❤️💚

Seeing the museum filled with county colours was something special. Until next year! 🎶

All set up for a very special evening at the GAA Museum on Culture Night. Our friends the Artane Band will entertain visitors with county songs as well as a lively mix of tunes from the world of pop, film and musicals.🎶

Those spending time in the museum will discover an array of artefacts tracing the birth and growth of the GAA.


The GAA Museum will remain open until 10pm following the concert.

🕯️ Tonight, Croke Park welcomes a very literary crowd.

We’re delighted to host the Drumcondra Joycean Jaunt group here at GAA Museum this evening, marking the anniversary of James Joyce’s last night in Ireland, spent just up the road in Drumcondra before he left for good.

A fitting spot to remember him, steeped in history of a different kind, but history all the same. 📚🏟️

Did you know?

On this day, 26th August, 1884 Michael Cusack penned a letter to Maurice Davin suggesting that a meeting take place in Munster “in some central place in Tipperary on the 1st November next” as the “Irish Association with its member must be formed before the end of this year”.

Just over two months later, seven men attended a meeting at Hayes’ Hotel in Thurles, at which the Gaelic Athletic Association was established.

The original letter is on loan to the GAA Museum from Pat Davin Walsh and on display as part of the museum’s permanent exhibition - stop by the museum to check it out!

The Last Ditch tells the unique story of sports columnist Sweeney’s journey to follow the All-Ireland Championships in 2024. His plan was to retrace the footsteps chronicled in his 2004 bestselling book The Road to Croker, but there was one big problem – for many years he had struggled with a crippling travel phobia that confined him to his hometown in West Cork. This book made him confront his deepest fear.

If you’d like to get involved with the GAA Museum Book Club can sign up for free. The GAA Museum team regularly choose a well-known GAA book to read and review. The Museum team also interview the author and release the video to all members.
