Skerries Rowing Club are now proud ambassadors for the RNLI! This is some important info for all rowers out there.

Remember, if you're struggling in the water:

1. Tilt your head back, submerging your ears.
2. Relax and try to control your breathing.
3. Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat.
4. Your legs may sink but that's okay👍 Everyone floats differently.
5. Find your float by practicing at a supervised location.

IN AN EMERGENCY CALL 999 OR 112 FOR THE COAST GUARD.

Beautiful evening tonight -flat as a lake. This public relations officer is jealous she didn't get to row😔

To many more evenings like this.

Today was a sad but heartfelt day for our club as we paid a beautiful tribute to our courageous member Cian Rooney-Fitzgerald who passed away after a brave battle. At the tender age of 17, he left this world far too soon, but he left a positive mark in so many ways in his short life. This afternoon, current and past club members, parents, and led by his friends in his U18 crew, brought three skiffs to the beach in Skerries to acknowledge Cian.

The boats headed out onto the water led by current and past U18 boys crews, and Cian’s friends to raise oars for one last time to remember a club member, a son, a brother, and a friend.

As the air horn sounded, oar blades were raised on sea and on shore to remember  the laughs, the rows, and the friendship shared with Cian.

He would have loved to have been in the middle of it all. We remember him well with his long flowing locks and his tireless ambition to row hard with his crew and to excel on the water. We applauded his life and the mark he has left on us all. We think especially of his mother, Linda, brother, Sean, and his father, Dell, at this time.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. He was and always will be our beautiful long blonde haired boy, row hard lad!

💙💛💙❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💙💛💙
