U18 League Cup: Fermoy 8 - 3 Youghal
Goals: Leon x3, Ger x3, Iwo x2
Fermoy's U18s got their season off to a good start with a home win against Youghal on Sunday evening.
From the start, Fermoy looked dangerous, getting joy down the flanks and winning good possession in midfield.
First half hattricks by Leon and Ger had the home side in control at the break.
Iwo was a constant menace to the Youghal back line, scoring twice and assisting three goals. Steven also grabbed an assist and worked tirelessly on the other flank. He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, as the Youghal keeper made two fantastic saves to thwart him.
There was an impressive debut for Seb in the centre of defence.
A solid start to the season but lots of tough matches ahead in what will be a very competitive league.
Training on Tuesday.

Under U13 Girls Bowl
Fermoy 2-3 Strand United
Sunday lunch time and welcome back to Carrig Park for the new season and this epic battle. It was the first outing for the Fermoy Girls and once the initial cobwebs were shaken off the girls found their stride.
One down through an unfortunate deflection, the girls raised their game and equalised almost immediately when Megan followed up a great strike from Naoise after great work by Sasha and Abbie.
Strand led again by the time half time arrived and despite this the Fermoy Girls only got better and better. The second half was an onslaught, chance after chance came and went - those cobwebs again surfacing for the finishing, but that can be worked on. The equaliser duly came from a wonderful piece of play when Clara snaffled the ball back and crossed for Alexandria to finish to the corner.
All the momentum was with the home team, then Strand struck the killer blow. A shot deflected off the post and back into our goal after a corner. Terribly unlucky and with little time on the clock to take it to pens the game ended.
Andela in goals was brilliant, the back four gave everything for the full hour with Abbie, Maeve, Caoimhe, Kornelia starring and with player of the game Lauren on the left.
The midfield dynamos found the full size pitch to their advantage. Copious amounts of energy on display from Niamh, Sasha, Clara, Megan, Zara and Jenna was a joy to behold.
Naoise and Alexandria ran and ran and did loads of great attacking ably assisted by Bianca when called upon.
Thanks to the ref and Strand United for a brilliant spectacle, played in the fairness and respect we like.

U15 Fermoy B 3 - 1 Kinsale B
Fermoy started off their season with a hard fought victory against Kinsale at Carraig Park.
Fermoy dominated the first half with and only an inspired performance from the Kinsale keeper as well as the woodwork kept the teams level at half time. The intensity was excellent and it seemed only a matter of time before Fermoy made a breakthrough.
After the break the lads dropped their intensity and were punished immediately when Kinsale punished some lax defending.
The goal woke Fermoy up and once again there was only one team looking like scoring. The breakthrough eventually came from Fermoy’s 15th corner when Rory Fuller calmly slotted home giving the keeper no chance. Jayden then popped up with two excellent finishes, one from outside the box, to put the game beyond doubt.
Great start to the season. Well done lads

U13 Division 2
Blarney 2 - 2 Fermoy
Fermoy’s U13s kicked off their league campaign with an action-packed 2-2 away draw against Blarney on Saturday afternoon.
Excitement was high playing their first 11 a side match, and playing in a higher division after securing promotion last season.
Despite the boys holding most of the early possession, a couple of lapses gave Blarney a quick 2-0 lead. Showing immense character, Fermoy regrouped brilliantly, the breakthrough came with Cormac pulling one back from a superb long ball in.
Fermoy back in the game it was wave after wave of attacking chances, Blarneys defence line stood strong though and proved hard to break through.
Half time 2-1 to Blarney.
The second half saw Fermoy make some changes and came back out fighting hard again to find another goal.
Patrick, who had a stand out man-of-the-match worthy performance from start to finish, was awarded a hard-earned penalty for his team. Declan stepped up to task and confidently converted it, bringing it level.
Despite their continued persistence and exceptional team work, Fermoy unfortunately could not find a third goal and the game ended 2-2.
Well done boys on such a confident great start to the season. It was a tough, physical encounter with every player giving it their all, from Cian in goals to our defenders, mid fielders and forwards 👏👏.
Looking forward to another exciting season for this team.

GUSSY WALSH CUP
Passage 2–5 Fermoy U17A
Fermoy U17A got their season off to a winning start with a 5–2 comeback victory away to Passage.
A very slow start, made even slower by the timekeeping issues, saw Passage take the lead after just two minutes from the penalty spot. We struggled to settle and found ourselves 2–0 down after 25 minutes.
Despite that, Athos Bipso and Tadhg Keating caused problems with some good runs on the wings. John Cahill and Dion Van de Ven both had chances before half-time as we finished the half strongly.
Five changes at half-time brought fresh legs, and with Passage tiring, Fermoy took control. Three goals in 10 minutes from Jamie Alcock and Dylan Aherne turned the game around.
We continued to dominate, with Dylan, Redmond, Jaylan and Jamie all hitting the woodwork before Jamie added two more in two minutes to complete his hat-trick and seal the win on his competitive debut.
A hard fought comeback and a very positive start to the season.

U15 Div 1
Fermoy 2 - 3 Wilton
A slow start proved costly for our U15s today. Finding themselves 3-0 down at the break was never the plan, but a raft of 2nd half changes injected real energy into the home side, sparking a fightback midway through the half. A delightful, delicate pass from Fergus McCallum found Daniel Walsh, who let fly from outside the box with a superb strike to make it a game again. Daniel was then brought down inside the box and stepped up himself to convert from the spot with just a minute remaining, setting up a grandstand finish. The hosts pushed for an equaliser, and had another half chance in the dying seconds, but couldn't find a way through. Wilton held on to take all 3 points.
Unlucky boys 👏👏

⚽ Fermoy A 3–3 Blarney A
Opening game of the season
Fermoy A opened their season with a thrilling 3–3 draw against a very strong Blarney A side, in a game played at an extremely high standard by both teams.
Fermoy found themselves 2–0 down, conceding either side of half-time, but showed great character to fight their way back into the game.
On his debut, Peter A announced himself in style , pulling two goals back for the home side. His first was a superbly struck shot, before he showed great composure to finish his second after running onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Jack E.
With just 10 minutes remaining, Fermoy found themselves 3–2 down and staring at defeat. However, the boys continued to apply relentless pressure, and their persistence was rewarded when a Blarney player was forced into turning the ball into his own net under pressure from the Fermoy attackers.
A fantastic comeback and a great way to open the season. 3–3 was a fair reflection of a high-quality, entertaining game, with both teams showing plenty of skill, determination and sportsmanship.
A special mention to Tom G who was ruled out last minute through injury, speedy recovery Tom, well done to the entire Fermoy squad from 1 to 16 for never giving up. 👏⚽
