Whilst Ireland's Juniors and Young Riders were doing us proud in Sweden, Ireland was also exceptionally well represented in the UK, with over 50 combinations competing at both Scone and Wellington.

Wellington is still ongoing, but meanwhile we have some fantastic results from Scone:

Meghan Healy and the Barry Healy owned Overis Cavalier finished 16th in the CCI4*-L section, giving the combination their first 4*-L MER.

Sarah Ennis had three in the huge 100-strong CCI4*-S, Deirdre Connolly's Onceuponatime taking 14th place, and Niki Potterton's Dourough Ferro Class Act also earning a top-20 finish. Aoife Clark and the Ace of Spade Syndicate's Standfast took 16th, with their other horse, Night Agent, finishing 25th.

Caitlin Woods and her father Michael's Greygrove Delight continued their run of good form, coming 14th in the CCI2*-L, with Elizabeth Power and Richard Ames's Belline Kilbunny Virtue finishing 20th.

With over 90 starters in the CCI1*Intro, Lesley Jones and Yvonne Pearson's Quality Choice and Chloe Walsh with Enniskerry Masterpiece (Valerie Walsh) finished 4th and 5th respectively. Patrick Whelan had two in the top-20, coming 10th with his own Augustus Colman and 13th with Maria Radford's Kilbunny Tahiti.

The CCIP2-S was very much an Irish-dominated affair, with all seven starters on Irish ponies. Four Irish contested, with Lucy Hope Ryan and Pretty Patterns (owned by Clare Ryan) taking top honours, Jonty Purcell and FHS Felicity (Melanie Purcell) in 2nd, with Hannah Goold and Paddys Best (Elaine Goold) 3rd. India Cox and Kinamara Lady Destiny (Tamso Doyle Cox) finished 5th.

Huge congratulations to all of the combinations who competed at Scone, amazing to see Ireland so well represented! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

๐ŸฅˆTEAM SILVER, INDIVIDUAL BRONZE! ๐Ÿฅ‰

Theyโ€™ve done it, Debbie Byrneโ€™s Juniors have won Team Silver, and and Annaharvey Dunowen take individual bronze after a stunning clear round to finish on their dressage score ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Zara McCarthy (Romans Special Envoy) and Carla Williamson (Powers) finish 9th and 10th respectively, with Katie Gibbons just outside of the top 20. What a performance from the whole team ๐Ÿ™Œ

Individuals Izzy Barrett (Oakfield Cooley) and Niamh Verkade (Duniro) finish in 28th and 44th respectively ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Huge congratulations to the entire squad, Debbie Byrne and all of the families and support crew who made the weekend happen ๐Ÿ‘

Photos from Eventing Ireland's post 29/08/2026

It was an action-packed day of Cross Country at the FEI Eventing European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders in Segersjรถ, Sweden.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Ireland's juniors put up an incredible performance, with Maeve Deverell, Carla Williamson, Izzy Barrett and Katie Gibbons all going clear inside the time. Zara McCarthy added just 0.4 (1 second) of a time penalty to her dressage score, whilst Niamh Verkade had an unlucky 20pens on Duniro.

๐Ÿฅ‰ An outstanding day for the juniors sees them hold onto the bronze medal position heading into Show Jumping, but now on a tied score with Great Britain, in silver. Maeve Deverell and Annaharvey Dunowen also lie in bronze medal position after Cross Country.

โ˜˜๏ธ Things didn't quite go to plan for the Young Rider team, as Amelia McCarthy and Finsceal Endeavour were Eliminated after a few problems on course, leaving the team with just two counting scores. However, there were some outstanding individual performances, with Ben Connors going clear inside the time to move up to 5th place ahead of the final phase tomorrow. Molly O'Connor and Anna Nangle, both competing as individuals, jumped clear, with just time to add to their dressage scores. Ciara O'Connor added 11 for a broken device, with a few time to add.

Well done to everyone, and wishing you all the best of luck heading into tomorrow!

๐Ÿ“ธ Thanks once again to Aisling Deverell Photography for the fantastic photos โญ
