Another day another podium. 200m presentation.

The temperature in Budapest read 38° when Saoirse Ballesty went to the start of 200m in the FISEC Games, so hot indeed that the track felt like it was burning her hands.
But when the gun went it was Saoirse who burned up the track - coming off the bend second she kicked off down the straight to win from the international field of u18s. No pb this time, but after 5 starts in 3 days - all wins - in these conditions, it was understandable.
And the lady was not finished yet! The last event of the week was a medley relay - 100m x 200m x 300m x 400m - and she duly took the baton for the Irish team in the first leg.
Another win, another Gold medal and 6 races, 6 wins. Superb.
Earlier in the day Associate Rachel Beatty ran an excellent relay leg for Ireland, the team finishing 2nd. No luck in her favourite Long Jump, the u18 Irish champion finishing 8th. Still a good days work.

A superb run from Saoirse Ballesty Byrne earlier today saw her win gold in 100m FISEC Games in Budapest today, and a new PB helped round off the celebrations.
In fact it was her second PB of the day as the morning started with the semifinals and a win. Saoirse's friend and room mate for the week also qualified for the final and finished fifth in a high quality event.
But Saoirse couldn't rest on her laurels for long as last event of the day was the 200m semis - run in 31°.
But this young Naas woman didn't wilt, taking the lead early in the straight to win pulling up. She faces this final tomorrow and may take a leg of the medley relay to bring the weeks athletics to a close

Day 1 of the FISEC Games in Budapest saw the athletes compete in more acceptable conditions than the 31° in yesterday's training session.
It was a cloudy 24° when Saoirse Ballesty Byrne took to the track in her heat of the 100m and the Naas girl ran a scorching new pb to finish second behind team mate Rachel Afori.
And two hours later she was back on track winning her heat of the 200m. As a precaution then she withdrew from the 4x100m relay team, 3 races in 3 hours was a bit much to ask.
Associate Rachel Beatty went one better in the 100m, winning her heat to join Saoirse in tomorrow's semis.
Not in the 200m Rachel took her place in the relay squad and they duly won their heat and now move to Friday's final.
Tomorrow then will see the ladies line up in the semi finals of the 100m - and if they get through that will have the final and hour later.
Saoirse will then have an hours rest before the 200m semis - 5 races in 2 days is some ask.
Still both ladies are in fine form and confident they can do well.

Well done to coach Sarah's u16 Boys who took on the mighty 800m yesterday at the National B Championships. They did brilliantly. Well done Jimmy, Ben and Dexter.

U16 girls has Eibhlinn and Pippa take on the 800m also with Eibhlinn taking home the silver 🥈 Well done girls.

U12s had Leo and Dylan taking on Shot Put and a race in blistering temperatures. While u13s had Ana take on the 600m.

National Relay 4x100m for our u13 girls yesterday. Bows, sunshine, smiles and racing the order of the day.

The girls have done themselves and their coaches very proud by qualifying for National Relay yesterday.
They were little superstars. In a race that saw a 10year National Record fall they held their own and performed brilliantly under that scorching sun.

Superstars each one of them. Well done Layla, Emily, Ana and Kate. Enjoy the summer break now ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Two weeks after winning National 100m Championship, Saoirse took Silver in 200m - her first National medal at the distance.
Now for Budapest and FISEC Games.
