On Monday I took a grading examination in Japan, and achieved the rank of Yondan (4th level black belt). I am deeply grateful to my doki and sensei for facilitating my growth in karate. And to my students who put their faith in me and allow me to dedicate my working week to martial arts. Thank you!
I did it wearing the Nishibu crest on my dogi and my father's black belt. I know he would be proud of me, because when I spotted my reflection in the mirror, he was right there, staring me in the face. We did it, Glen!
I'm often told that I fight with great spirit. I can't help it. It's because when I step up, my teachers and my friends and my family all step up with me. Win or lose, I just don't want to let them down.
