🏉 Introducing the RW Valkyries! 🏉

As Rathdrum RFC continue to grow our girls’ rugby programme, last season’s hugely successful U16 players have taken the next step to U18.5. To support that development this season, we’re delighted to join forces with our neighbours Wicklow RFC, who share our commitment to inspiring, developing and empowering girls through rugby.

Together, we are the RW Valkyries — two clubs, one team, and an exciting season ahead! 💪

When our planned league game had to be rescheduled, Wolves answered the call for a competitive friendly. A big thank you to them for hosting our first outing together and providing a great test.

Wolves started strongly, scoring two early tries as their impressive pack powered through the phases. The Valkyries soon settled, though, finding their rhythm and pulling a score back. As confidence grew, so did the connections between new teammates, with linked phases and some really slick passing helping the girls build a lead. Wolves struck again just before the final whistle, but the Valkyries held on to take the win.

Beyond the result, it was the girls’ attitude and unity that stood out. They stayed positive, worked for each other and found their way back into the game together. After just four training sessions as a combined squad, that is something everyone involved can be proud of.

This is an important step for our Rathdrum players and a shared opportunity for girls from both clubs to grow at U18.5. With the backing of our families, supporters and both club communities, we can make this a season to remember.

Come along, lend your voice and get behind the RW Valkyries! 👏

🏉🎃 HALLOWEEN SHOWDOWN AT THE IVY LEAF! 🎃🏉

💚🖤 Rathdrum U16 Girls 36 – 24 AB

The sun was shining at the Ivy Leaf Grounds as Rathdrum U16 Girls welcomed AB for a thrilling Halloween rugby battle! ☀️🏉

Rathdrum got off to a flying start, with Julia scoring her first-ever try for the club in under five minutes! Hannah added the conversion before Zoey and Lauren crossed the line to give Rathdrum a narrow 17–12 half-time lead.

The second half was just as fiercely contested! 💪 Chloe powered over for a try, converted by Hannah, before AB fought back to keep the pressure on.

But Rathdrum weren’t finished! 🔥 Number 8 Julianna ploughed through a sea of defenders to score, before Chloe took off like a March Hare to grab her second try of the afternoon! 🐇 Hannah added another conversion to seal a fantastic 36–24 victory! 🙌

🌟 A special mention to Sophia Phelan, who made her Rathdrum debut and pulled off a crucial try-saving tackle just metres from the line!

👏 Huge credit to AB for a brilliant contest and to all the Rathdrum girls for their determination, teamwork and attacking flair!

💚🖤 What a performance, girls! 🏉🎃

🏉💙 RUCK ME, THAT’S A FINE MOUSTACHE! 👨🏻

This November, the Rathdrum Rugby Club Senior Men’s Team are swapping clean shaves for questionable moustaches, all for a brilliant cause! 💪🏻

We’re taking part in Movember to raise funds and awareness for Blue Balls Wicklow, a fantastic local charity supporting men’s mental health right here in our community. 💙

Mental health matters, both on and off the pitch. Rugby is all about looking out for your teammates, and this month we’re taking that spirit beyond the rugby field.

Throughout November, the lads will be growing their finest (and probably worst 😂) moustaches to help raise awareness, start conversations and support a cause close to home.

💙 HOW CAN YOU HELP?

👨🏻 Donate whatever you can — every euro counts! (Donation link in our bio!)

🏉 Share this post and spread the word!

💬 Check in on your mates — a simple conversation can make a massive difference.

Let’s get behind the lads, raise some much-needed funds and make a difference in our local community!

ONE TEAM. ONE CAUSE. SOME VERY QUESTIONABLE TASHES. 👨🏻🏉
