📢 YOUTHS FIXTURES UP!

😳 It’s a relatively quiet weekend by the usual standards of Skerries Rugby Club youths teams but there’s still live action to enjoy across Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

🔦 In it’s the turn of the U14 boys, as they entertain Clontarf at Holmpatrick from 7:30pm, while Saturday sees the U16 girls of Ardee, Boyne and Skerries make a second visit in the space of a few weeks to play Edenderry in a 1pm kick-off.

🏉 On Sunday, action on home turf comes from the U17 boys, as they welcome Suttonians to Holmpatrick at 12:15pm, with the U14 girls kicking off away to Tullamore at 12:30pm.

🙏🏼 As ever, all support is most welcome!

📰 AIL RETURNS 😳

💪 After a busy opening block and a welcome week’s rest, the returns for round four this weekend, with Clogher Valley RFC the visitors to Holmpatrick!

🏠 For the Linesight and Halligan O'Connor Property Consultants-backed first XV, this will be a chance to get back to winning ways following their first defeat of the season last time out, as well as a first victory over the Co Tyrone men in AIL competition.

🚌 The visitors, who have been involved in the promotion playoffs the last two years, are flying high once again and will make the journey as one of four unbeaten teams in Division 2B North.

👏 This match has all the makings of an entertaining battle and as the only adult fixture for Skerries Rugby Club teams this weekend, we’d call on all supporters to get down to Holmpatrick for 2:30pm on Saturday!

🍽️ The return of AIL action means the next edition of the popular pre-match lunch, so if you want to make a day of it, please get in touch with Lesley on 0868030592.

🌊 The Dickie Dip is an all-male, skinny-dip fundraiser for Men’s cancer care, organised by the
Mater Hospital Foundation, in which participants brave the Irish Sea for a quick dip wearing only a dickie bow.

🫡 A number of our own club members will be taking part in the dip, and in doing so, will honour our friend, the late Matt Davis, who was huge supporter of and a regular participant in the event, and who sadly passed away earlier this year.

💪 A great win at home today for the Blue Bar Skerries J2s, as they crossed for five tries in an impressive 29-10 showing against Navan in their 9 encounter.

🏉 Scores from Rory Garland, Marcus Brownly-Otiede and Seth Welsh, along with the boot of Greg McEneaney, gave Skerries a 17-5 lead after a highly entertaining first half.

🎂 The second period was something of a scrappier affair but Paddy Bracken squeezed over for the bonus point try inside the final quarter and then Conor O’Reilly picked off an intercept and ran almost the length of the field to put the icing on the cake.

🫡 Played out in perfect conditions, there were some notable milestones on the Skerries side, including the return of Evan Sherlock as captain, on his first appearance in Skerries colours in over four years.

It was a special day for the McEneaney clan, as brothers Greg, Darragh and Oisín lined out together for the first time, while try-scorer Welsh was marking his first appearance at adult level, in doing so becoming the latest graduate from the club’s youth ranks! 👨🏻‍🎓

📢 FIXTURE UPDATES ‼️

📰 In an update to original AIL fixture list, the meetings between Skerries Rugby Club and our Fingal neighbours, Malahide RFC in December and January have both been confirmed for Friday night kick-offs!

🤝 After a break in the rivalry last season, the two sides will renew acquaintences at Estuary Road for the round 9 pre-Christmas clash on Friday, December 11th, before the return game at Holmpatrick on Friday, January 8th marks the kick-off to 2027.

🔦 These fixtures at Holmpatrick have traditionally created a great atmosphere for the first XV and with January’s game set to be the first installment of AIL since the corresponding fixture three years ago, we’ll be hoping for a bumper crowd for this one! 💪

⬆️ Updated fixture list attached! 😳
