🏉 A really positive development for sport in Tramore
It is fantastic to see Waterford City & County Council giving serious consideration to the future provision of sports and community facilities in Tramore. As part of the Council’s Proposed Variation No. 2, its Urban Design Concept identifies Ballycarnane as the preferred location for enhanced community infrastructure and includes an indicative layout showing two playing pitches, a multi-use games area (MUGA) and a Community Hub.
For a growing town like Tramore, this kind of long-term planning is hugely important. Housing, schools, community facilities and sporting infrastructure all need to develop together if we are to provide for future generations. These proposals are still draft and indicative, so nothing is guaranteed at this stage.
But it is extremely encouraging to see the need for proper sports facilities being recognised and specific land being identified as having the potential to provide them. From Tramore RFC’s point of view, we very much welcome the Council looking seriously at the sporting infrastructure needs of the town and hope that this work will lead to meaningful engagement with all local sports clubs, schools and community organisations about what Tramore needs for the future. 🏉⚽🏃♀️🏀
This could be a really significant and generational opportunity for sport and community life in Tramore and for the future health and welfare of our current and future community.
