Tramore RFC seeking applications for part-time Club & Community Rugby Officer

Tramore Rugby Club, Co. Waterford, is seeking applications for a part-time Club & Community Rugby Officer (CCRO) for the 2026/27 season.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified person to support the continued development of rugby in Tramore and the surrounding area, working with Tramore RFC, local schools and Munster Rugby.

The successful candidate will work approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility required to support school, club and community rugby activities.

The Role

The Club & Community Rugby Officer will play an important role in increasing opportunities for children and young people to experience and participate in rugby.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Supporting the delivery and development of rugby in local primary and secondary schools.
- Delivering rugby coaching sessions and introductory rugby programmes.
- Supporting schools with the organisation and development of rugby teams and activities.
- Building strong links between local schools and Tramore RFC.
- Encouraging children who participate in school rugby to continue playing rugby within the club environment.
- Supporting the recruitment and retention of players across Tramore RFC's Mini and Youth sections.
- Assisting with rugby blitzes, festivals, school competitions and other rugby development initiatives.
- Supporting club coaches and volunteers where appropriate.
- Promoting inclusive participation in rugby for boys and girls of all abilities and levels of experience.
- Working collaboratively with Tramore RFC, Munster Rugby and relevant school personnel to develop rugby within the Tramore area.

The Person

The successful applicant should:

- Have a strong interest in rugby development and working with children and young people.
- Have appropriate rugby coaching qualifications or be willing to complete the required IRFU coaching qualifications.
- Have good communication and organisational skills.
- Be comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
- Have the ability to develop positive relationships with schools, teachers, coaches, parents and young players.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for growing rugby participation within the local community.
- Be available during some school hours, with occasional evening or weekend work where required.
- Meet all relevant IRFU safeguarding and Garda Vetting requirements.

Previous experience in rugby coaching, sports development, teaching, youth work or community sport would be an advantage.

Hours

Approximately 10–15 hours per week during the 2026/27 season.

The distribution of hours will be agreed with the successful candidate and will primarily reflect the requirements of local schools and rugby development activities.

About Tramore RFC

Tramore RFC is a growing community rugby club serving Tramore and the surrounding area in County Waterford.

The club has a strong Mini rugby section and is committed to expanding opportunities for young people to continue playing rugby through the Youth age grades.

A central objective of the role will be to strengthen the pathway between school rugby and club rugby, ensuring that children and young people in Tramore have greater opportunities to participate in and remain involved with the game.

Tramore RFC – Growing Rugby in Our Community

Thank you to Tesco Tramore for their donation from their community fund, and Thank you to everyone who voted for us with their blue tokens. Everything goes to help provide rugby for our local community.

Waterford City and County Council presented a report on its Capital Programme 2025–2028 to the Elected Members at the Plenary Council meeting held yesterday, Thursday 9th July.

It is fantastic to hear that 5 million has been allocated for the development of sports and recreation facilities for Tramore.

Credit to all our councillors, many of whom have been working hard behind the scenes for a long time now.

Much needed and overdue for Tramore but most certainly a big bualadh bos to all concerned.

Development of facilities in Tramore has been significantly behind our population size and growth for many years. While we were starting from a low base over a generation ago, despite the best efforts of many clubs, Tramore has not seen an additional playing pitch in over 30 years while our towns population has almost trebled in that time. We remain the only club (and likely secondary school also) without access to a local Rugby pitch. Let's hope a real collaborative political and community effort can help meet the needs of our entire community., and not just Rugby.

We had a great day today with our 2nd class minis Rugby blitz in Tramore GAA club. Unfortunately, we missed Holy Cross School today but we will get you next time lads. Thanks to all the Munster Rugby Participation Waterford Munster Rugby staff and especially our CCRO Dermot for organising such a super morning for the kids. Thanks to the Ardscoil na Mara TY students who did a super job reffing and our own Tramore RFC coaches as well as all the schools for their super support. Big thanks goes out to Tramore GAA Official who have shown super community spirit towards Tramore RFC all year. We wish you every success this season.

Massive congratulations to Tramore's Ard Scoil Na Mara who came out champions as winners of the U16 schools pan Munster Giles shield today in Musgrave park with a resounding 73-17 victory. That's two years of unprecedented Rugby success for the school. Let's keep it going.....
