A new study has some interesting results. This was an analysis of many research studies. Out of 8,222 studies only 67 were included due to the validity and evidence strength. That shows just how important it is to look at the totality of evidence and how the studies are conducted.

All these studies out together found...

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ only 20% of individuals were successful in long term weight loss.
πŸ‘‰πŸΌ behavioural and psychological factors played the biggest role in determining if weight loss occurred and if weight stayed off.
πŸ‘‰πŸΌ factors that helped with weight loss were: activity levels, healthy diets, eating more fruit and veg, less sugary drinks, eating regularly, a low fat diet, having social support and some ongoing form of monitoring weight and eating.
πŸ‘‰πŸΌ environmental factors also had an impact including access to healthy foods and barriers to physical activity.
πŸ‘‰πŸΌ this shows how obesity is multifactorial and isn’t as simple as just changing one thing.

Personally I like to work with people on a approach and look at their whole lifestyle. Changing health behaviours and connecting to their bodies
