3 teams out this weekend.
Below are the 3s and 1s... 2s are playing it safe and not releasing details just yet.
Congratulations and good luck to Callum Smith making his debut for the 1st XI and Oliver French for the 3rd XI.
Oliver has been a consistent (and standout) cricketer in our MCMJ teams over the last couple of seasons and this is the next step in his cricketing career. - Go well.

Thanks as always to main Club sponsor Carey Olsen and to the 1st XI match ball sponsor Praxis Careers

Weekend roundup.

It was a successful weekend for the Club with two successful chases as both our 3rd XI on Saturday and 2nd XI yesterday picked up wins.

The 3s were playing at home against Chirpy's Cricket Club, who having won the toss opted to bat.
Chirpy's opening bat Peter German batted well to post a half century before retiring, whilst throughout the innings the home side bowled well until a late flurry of runs from Tom Kearns closed out the innings on 159/7.
It was great to see some of the younger bowlers in the wickets - Jack Gallon (3) with singles for Finn, Sam, Calum and Armand.

In reply Bucco opened and hit a solid 50 before retiring, and captain Armand (52*) then took charge as the home side chased down the total with 3 overs to spare.

On Sunday, on another warm afternoon the 2s travelled to FB to take on the Royals.
Royals batted first and were dismissed for 147 in the 35th over. Again it was younger members of the team who picked up wickets - Jules Herve (3), Jack Gallon and James Bradbury 2 each, with singles for Joe Asplet and Sam Glennon.

JT (35) batting at the top of the order anchored the response before Ollie Ramage (44) and Tom Coward (37*) took up the charge to see us home in the 36th over to win by 4 wickets.

Two games again this weekend for the Club as a number of our 1st XI players will be involved in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Europe Qualifier against Guernsey in Cyprus starting at 13.30 BST (live on ICC tv).
We will also be showing this in the clubhouse at Farmers.

Our 3rd XI host Chirpys this afternoon at Farmers and our 2nd XI take on Royals tomorrow at FB.

Weekend round up.

Saturday saw our 3rd XI travel to Grainville to take on RGA Walkovers Cricket Club Warriors. Having been put into bat the 3s, following a slow start posted 191/9 from their 35 overs with Stefan (49) top scoring in the middle of the order, and other useful contributions from Captain Armand and Andrew Kearsey (both 26) and Sam Glennon (20).
In reply the Walkovers innings was anchored by a superb, controlled knock of 85 off 84 balls by Theo Vautier who was ably supported by David Smith and Joe McCarthy (both 21).
Farmers looked to have the win within their sights entering the final stages, but it was not meant to be as Bradley Vautier hit back to back 4s off the last two balls of the inning to see the home side home.

On Sunday our 2s hosted ATF St Ouen Springfield Cricket Club who having won the toss opted to bat.
SOS started steadily in the face of a controlled opening spell of bowling from Shents and Faudie, but wickets were hard to come by as they moved onto 144/2 before Hugo Gomersall (59) was the second wicket to fall in the 30th.
Faudie was the pick of the bowlers with 2 with everyone else picking up a scalp a piece as the visitors finished on 200/6 from their 40 overs.
In reply we lost a couple of early wickets before Toby (52) rode his luck a bit as he was supported by De Gruchy (39) and Sol (20) to chase down the total to win by 3 wickets with 10 overs to spare.
It was SOS who were left to ponder what might have been had catches stuck.

No 1st XI game this week as the National side are away in Cyprus, thus depleting numbers available.

There is however a 3rd team match at Grainville on Saturday vs RGA Walkovers Cricket Club and a home fixture on Sunday for our 2s vs ATF St Ouen Springfield Cricket Club so still plenty to follow.

Also playing on Sunday are our MCMJ T2 side in the morning from 9am at FB and in the afternoon both our u12 and u15 HERA girls are in action.

Weekend round-up from 9th & 10th May.

Last weekend saw our 1st XI open have their first 40 over match of the season as they travelled out to LQ to take on ATF St Ouen Springfield Cricket Club.
And what a game it was with 424 runs that ended in a tie.
Having won the toss captain Rhys opted to bat. Jack Kemp and Dave Lawrenson opened and made a steady start. Kempy in particular took his time to build an innings before eventually falling for 42.
During that time a few batsmen came and went, with contributions from Sol (19) and Chuggy (17) before a late partnership between Scott Van Breda (60*) and Rhys (37) pushed the total past 200. At the end Jack de G came in and smoked a couple of 4s to end on 11* and our innings closed out on 212/ 7.
In reply the Westerners were pegged back in the early overs by SVB and Chuggy who both bowled very well with Scott claiming the prize wicket of Harrison Carlyon.
The in-form Gouge (96) batted with maturity and Robbie Forrest (55) pushed the score along, but after Forrest fell with the score 140/2 and Gouge 190/3, things started to unravel. Claason was next out with the score on 206/4 but plenty of overs to go. By now Sol (5fer) had found his line and length and the skipper was bowling with control - both picking up regular wickets for very few runs. And to the last over to be bowled by Sol, SOS needed 3 to win with 3 wickets... - Wicket, dot, wide, wicket and incoming 14yo Rufus Aston at 11 on debut needing to survive or thrive, and then the last ball chaos.
It hit Rufus who stayed put before Taylor at the other end yelled 'run' and they scampered the one run they needed to tie the match on 212/9.

Meanwhile at Farmers Field on Saturday our 3rd team dominated in their match for a convincing win over SOS and then on Sunday the 2s also got the better of RGA Walkovers Cricket Club at Grainville, so all in all a good weekend for the Club.

Thanks to sponsors, especially Club main sponsor Carey Olsen and 1st XI ball sponsor Praxis Careers.
