On Wednesday 23rd September, 6–8pm, we continue our September Beginners Course with Session 4, building confidence and practical fishing skills step by step.

Then on Thursday 24th September, we welcome newcomers and beginners for another enjoyable hands-on fishing session. 🎣🌅

Pan-fried garfish – Lightly coat the cleaned fish in seasoned flour and fry in olive oil with garlic. Finish with lemon and parsley. Simple and excellent for fresh garfish.

Grilled garfish – Brush with olive oil, season with sea salt, pepper, garlic and herbs, then grill whole or as fillets. Serve with plenty of fresh lemon.

Garfish al cartoccio (oven-baked) – Place the fish in foil or baking paper with cherry tomatoes, garlic, parsley, capers, olive oil and a splash of white wine. Seal and bake until tender.

For freshly caught Mediterranean garfish, I'd pick pan-frying as the easiest way to keep the flavour of the fish itself. 🎣🐟🍋

FISHING FOR IMSELLA IN MALTA

Imsella fishing is about finding the fish and following their movement. Watch for surface activity and use light, regular groundbait to attract them. Fish close with the hand pole or switch to a floating Bombarda for distance. Long casts, light terminals, good bait and a slow retrieve are the keys to success.
