What a special week in Pontevedra Spain! 🇪🇸💙
We return home feeling grateful, inspired, and motivated after an unforgettable experience at the Artistic Swimming World Cup.
For Valentina Marchi, this marked her very first World Cup appearance. Competing in Solo Free, she delivered a clean swim and achieved a score of 182.5363 — a fantastic result and an important milestone in her artistic swimming journey.
Emily Ruggier also achieved a clean swim in Solo Technical, earning a score of 198.7050 and finishing in 18th place amongst a strong international field.
A big well done to National Team athlete Zea Monfort and her coach on their performances. Zea achieved a new personal best of 214.3188 in Solo Free and placed 12th in Solo Technical with a score of 211.6166, a remarkable achievement on the world stage.
This competition marked an important milestone for our club and for artistic swimming in Malta, as Emily and Valentina became the first non-National Team athletes to represent Malta at an Artistic Swimming World Cup. By achieving the required qualification criteria, they earned the opportunity to compete amongst some of the world’s best athletes. They also took the opportunity to meet and learn from many of the sport’s top international athletes, making this experience even more memorable.
We are incredibly proud of how they embraced this challenge and represented both our club and Malta on the international stage.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our coach, Laura Marquez, whose dedication, guidance, and expertise throughout the season helped make this achievement possible. From choreography to daily training, her commitment to our athletes has been instrumental every step of the way.
Thank you also to ASA, VisitMalta, and everyone who supported this journey. Your belief in our athletes helps create opportunities that allow them to grow, compete, and dream bigger.
This is only the beginning. We return home proud of what was achieved, excited by what was learned, and motivated for what comes next. ✨
