Winter is finally on its way out, the days are getting longer and it’s time to start thinking about getting back in the saddle!

We know it can be pretty hard to find that riding mojo after months of cold, mud and hairy horses 😂 but once you get going, you’ll be glad you did!

And there’s plenty coming up at MWRC to give you something to aim for…

Our September Club Day is the perfect excuse to get the horse out, blow away the winter cobwebs and start getting back into it. Then we’ve got the Catherine Ladd clinic, followed not long after by our first show of the season!

So dust off the saddle, find that missing motivation and get those horses moving again. 🤠

A spot has unexpectedly become available for our Catherine Ladd Clinic – 10th & 11th October at Hawera Indoor Arena.

If you missed out the first time, or have been kicking yourself for not booking, here’s your chance!

Catherine is a hugely experienced trainer, breeder and competitor across a range of Western disciplines, and this is a great opportunity for two full days of learning with her and not one to miss!

GCWRC are holding club days! Come join GCWRC at the Massey Equestrian Centre 10am-2pm, Sunday August 30th.

Dan Carlisle will be running the club day, plus the club will be holding a fundraiser bbq lunch!

Another Club Day done and dusted!

A smaller group of riders, but still a really good morning at Johnson Park. We had four riders out enjoying the trail gear and plenty of spectators coming along for a look and a chat. It was especially great to meet some new faces interested in joining the club! 😊

A big thank you to our committee who came along and pitched in with setting up, helping throughout the morning.
Thanks to everyone who helped pack everything away. Having those extra helping hands makes such a difference and is really appreciated. ❤️

I didn’t manage to get many photos, but here are a few from the morning.

📅 Our next Club Day will be Sunday 13th September, and we’re hoping to have Jo Wakeling along to run the morning and share some of her knowledge. Jo has been involved in Western riding and our club for many years. While she no longer rides herself, she’s still very involved as a ring steward and is currently working towards her judge’s ticket.

It’ll be a great opportunity, particularly for anyone newer to Western, to learn some of the basics, get some guidance and also gain a bit of an insight into what a judge is looking for. 🤠

Club days are all about building confidence, learning new skills, helping one another, and enjoying time with our horses, and there's no pressure, just a friendly environment where everyone is welcome.

If you have a young horse needing experience, a seasoned horse you'd like to keep progressing with, or you've simply been meaning to come along and meet everyone, this is the perfect opportunity.

We'd love to see some familiar faces as well as welcome those who haven't made it along yet.

🤠 Club Day Wrap Up 🤠

What a lovely morning we had at the Club on Sunday.

It was a nice, relaxed club day, with several babies heading out for an outing and some valuable exposure, while others spent the morning honing their skills and enjoying time with their horses. The weather certainly looked after us too, and was a welcome break from all the recent rain! ☀️👌

One of the highlights of the morning was getting to know some of our new members who have recently joined the club. It's always great to put faces to names, have a chat, and welcome new people into our Western riding community.
