A great day for womens football at Fortress Timona with two big performances starting with a 5-1 win for the 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬. The scoring was opened on 16 minutes by 1st Team Coach 𝑺𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒉 𝑺𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒔, slotting one over the keeper from outside the box. Who else but 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 doubled the lead on 24 minutes, finishing off a break through run, before Levin pulled one back on 36 minutes. We went into halftime with a slender lead, but it didn’t take long after the break for the floodgates to open, first 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒂 𝑬𝒍𝒍𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅 curling one in, before 𝑴𝒂𝒊𝒂 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈-𝑷𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂 made it 4-1 with a header on 72 minutes. The scoring was finished off by, you guessed it, 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 with her second goal of the day. It would not be her last. In addition to the goalscorers there were standout performances at the back with 𝑺𝑱 𝑪𝒐𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓 and 𝑯𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒆𝒚 𝑭𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒎 a class act at centre back, SJ earning Player of the Day. The result sees the girls finish the season off in third place, with attention now turning to the Home cup semi-final next week.

The 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨’𝐬 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐤𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝟏𝐬𝐭𝐬 followed up with a stunning team performance even with the wind increasingly coming in to play. The first half was an end to end battle with chances for both teams, before – drumroll please – 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 opened the scoring on 28 minutes. The girls then dominated possession in the second half and 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 added to her tally with a second goal to give the team a bit of a cushion. Takaro were able to grab a goal back through a counter-attack, but a through ball from 𝑺𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒉 𝑺𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒔 straight from the restart set up 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 for her hat-trick and her fifth goal of the day. Standout player for the day was 𝑴𝒂𝒅𝒔 𝑭𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 playing her best game of the season in midfield, with solid performances from 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝑯𝒖𝒔𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅 and 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝑴𝒄𝑭𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆 in the backline. The girls now have to prepare for a game on Thursday night at Massey taking on PNU Reserves, before their season ends at home next Sunday.

Congratulations to the Feilding High School Girls 1st XI football side who finished 3rd at the Grant Jarvis Tournament last week. The girls have a strong affiliation with FUAFC, with a number of players and management being part of the club. The FAHS side were the only team not from Auckland to make the top 4. Well done to coaches Kerri Mills, Rebecca Holland and management staff of Bre Johnston & Nicola Bright.

As the season winds down we have two big games at Timona Park this Sunday.

Forst up at 11am, the 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 look to finish their league season in style against Levin Reserves. Both sides are coming off good wins last week, our girls thrashing Takaro Harelquins and Levin knocking off second placed Dannevirke. A win for the Socials could see them finish as high as 2nd, Levin need the points to fight off bottom placed Marist Evergreenz. With 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 topping the golden boot charts with 21 there is sure to be goals in this one.

At 1pm the 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨’𝐬 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐤𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝟏𝐬𝐭𝐬 return to action after yet another bye, hosting Takaro 1sts. The two sides played out a 2 all draw just a couple of weeks ago, and get reacquainted here, both teams battling it out in the middle of the table. Just three points separate them going into the final stretch of the season, neither can change positions this week with a massive goal difference gap, but Takaro would move level on points with a win. The teams have met three times this season, with one win to us and two draws.

The 𝐌𝐜𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐅𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 signed off for 2026 with a win in a back and forth game at Timona Park against Levin Colts. The boys opened the scoring on 15 minutes through 𝑨𝒙𝒆𝒍 𝑯𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒔, before a 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒅-𝑺𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒉 goal doubled the advantage on 25 minutes. Levin pulled one back on the stroke of halftime, the score at the break 2-1. 𝑲𝒂𝒚𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑴𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 restored the two goal lead on 70 minutes, before a quickfire double from Levin saw the scores level by the 75th minute. The parity only lasted five minutes however before 𝑲𝒚𝒍𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 stepped up to net the winner, the game ending 4-3 to Development. The result means the boys finish up solidly midtable in 5th having recovered from a poor start to the year.

In Division Four, the 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 faced off with Takaro Benchwarmers in their final game of the year. Some words from 𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐨 – “Hot Shots signed off their season with one of the best performances defensively, unlucky to lose 1 nil after a scrappy goal to the Benchwarmers. Excellent goalkeeping from 𝑫𝒚𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 and a fantastic effort from 𝐋𝐮𝐤𝐚 𝐎𝐳𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐫 at centre back. Unfortunately goalscoring has been an issue for the team all season and despite a number of efforts going close, the ball didn’t hit the back of the net for them. The makings of a good team next season if they can keep together and do some shooting practice in the off season.”

In the only game on Sunday the 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 took on the Takaro Harlequins at Timona Park. Twelve minutes in the Socials took the lead via an own goal, before 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 stepped up on 36 minutes with her 18th goal of the season. Eden grabbed a second just after halftime, before Takaro pulled one back on 52 minutes. 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒂 𝑬𝒍𝒍𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅 then scored to extend the lead to 4-1, before Eden Surville took over in the final ten minutes, goals on 85 and 89 minutes to complete her hattrick and bring her tally to 21 goals for the season, the game ending 6-1. With one game to go in the league a win there could take them to 2nd.

On Saturday, the 𝐌𝐜𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐅𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 host Levin Colts at 1230pm at Timona Park as they look to wrap up their season with a win. In the previous meeting down in the Horowhenua, the boys came away with a 6 nil win which kickstarted a high scoring run that has seen them rise into midtable. They face a Levin side anchored to the bottom of the table on a poor run of form. 𝑲𝒂𝒚𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑴𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 can theoretically still top the golden boot charts, just needs six goals in this game to take the number 1 spot!

In Division Four, the 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 head over to the wind-swept plains of Celaeno Park at 245pm to take on the Takaro Benchwarmers. Takaro can leap from 8th to 4th with a win, and the Socials will be looking to sign off with a win, so it will be an entertaining battle if the wind holds off.

The 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 come off their bye week to host the Takaro Harlequins at 11am at Timona Park. Top spot might be out of reach now, but with a strong finish to the season the girls can still overtake Dannevirke in 2nd, and with a cup semi-final to look forward too, it would be good to build momentum against the Harlies, who sit two places below on the table. The previous meeting between the two sides saw a 3-2 win for the Socials.

🏆 2026 CHARITY CUP CHAMPIONS – FEILDING UNITED RESERVES! 🏆

A huge congratulations to Feilding United AFC Reserves on being crowned the 2026 Manawatu Charity Cup Champions! ⚽👏

In a tightly contested final, Feilding United Reserves secured a 1-0 victory over Whanganui City to lift the trophy and cap off a fantastic cup campaign.

With very little separating the two sides, the final was a great battle from start to finish, with Feilding doing enough to get over the line and claim the silverware.
Congratulations also to Whanganui City on reaching the final and playing their part in a competitive contest.

A massive well done to all the Feilding United Reserves players, coaches, management and supporters! 🏆🎉

At Skoglund Park, the 𝐆.𝐉.𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 took on Whanganui City 1sts in the Charity Cup final. There was a slight delay to kick-off whilst the nets were found and put up, but it did not affect our boys, as just 5 minutes into the game a ball launched forward saw 𝑱𝒐𝒏 𝑵𝒆𝒘𝒎𝒂𝒏 get around the outside to cross for 𝑺𝒂𝒎 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒕 at the back post to slot past the hapless keeper. What followed was an 85 minute slugfest, with both teams going back and forth at each other without much joy. City were threatening from set-pieces, but some big saves from 𝑩𝒆𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒆 and plenty of lads putting their bodies on the line to block, saw the game out for a 1 nil victory and the Charity Cup trophy. Jeff, Phil and the team would like to pass on their thanks to the support crew who turned up and cheered them on in cold and windy conditions, in Phil’s words “the 12th man for sure”.

Over at Ashhurst the 𝐌𝐜𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐅𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 took on title chasing North End Vets. The Vets knew a win likely gave them the league, and they got off to the best possible start with a goal after 3 minutes. A second came on 27 minutes with the sides heading into the break at 2 nil to North End. The Vets came out in the 2nd half firing, and sealed the win and the title on 53 minutes, the game finishing 3 nil.

At Timona the 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 hosted Dannevirke Rangers. Having beaten Dannevirke over the hill earlier in the year the boys will have fancied their chances of three points at home, however it was not to be, with Dannevirke winning 3 nil. The boys now have one final game next week away to Takaro Benchwarmers.

Also at Timona, the 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐋𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 signed off for 2026 with a nil nil draw against Marist Shamrock Rovers. Unfortunately not the result needed to leapfrog Marist on the table, but good for the boys to finish off with a point.

In appalling conditions to play football, with the wind making playing away from the river extremely difficult, the 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨’𝐬 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐤𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝟏𝐬𝐭𝐬 took on PNU Reserves. In a first half where PNU struggled with the ball running away from them, the 1sts did well to build up some good passages of play, and managed to take the lead on 35 minutes, 𝑷𝒂𝒎 𝑪𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 finding the ball behind the opposition defence, and lofting it over the keeper. In the second half PNU found their feet, and with their through balls now holding up rather than running away from them, they took advantage to fight back and take the lead. Three quite similar goals saw the game end up 3-1 to PNU. It was extremely challenging conditions for both sides, and they did really well to put on an entertaining contest for those that braved the wind to come and watch.
