Joyce Barron is Julys Volunteer of the Month here at NESC. Joyce was nominated for her tireless work organising our bench officials every week and is often at the courts for the bulk of the day making sure everything runs smoothly ✅ our quiet achiever, many of you may not notice what she does but we can assure you she gets the job done and gets it done accurately 📋 Joyce has recently been training and assessing some of our wonderful ladies on the bench, just another wee extra task for her each week 😅 Thank You so much Joyce for continuing to contribute to our centre season after season, we all appreciate YOU! 🤍

As we head into our winter netball Semi-Finals and Finals, the energy and excitement across Eastern Southland are at an all-time high! 🏆
This is a fantastic time to celebrate the game we love, the incredible hard work of our volunteers, and everything our netball community has achieved so far.

With the stakes rising, we want to take a moment to talk openly about what matters most: keeping our sideline and on-court behaviour positive. ✨

Let’s make the most of these next few weeks by committing to what makes our centre great:

👋 Respect each other — players, coaches, and supporters alike.
🤝 Respect our opponents — they have worked just as hard to get here.
🧑‍⚖️ Respect our match officials — without them, the game cannot happen.

We all have a vital part to play. Let's be proactive, lead by example, and proudly nurture our Eastern Southland Netball values on and off the court. 🖤🤍

🏆 THE ROAD TO THE FINALS: SEMI-FINALS DAY FORMAT! 🏆

The stakes are higher, the intensity is up, and the path to the finals is locked in! 🔒 Here is everything you need to know about how Semi-Finals Day will run.

🥇 Semi-Final 1: Seed #1 vs. Seed #4
🥈 Semi-Final 2: Seed #2 vs. Seed #3

⚙️ The Format
Single Elimination: It’s win or go home! The two victorious teams advance straight to the Final.

🚨 Crucial Draw Rules & Extra Time Format
If the score is level at full time, the game is not over. Please follow these exact procedures:

⏱️ Full-Time Draw: A 1-minute stoppage will be held. DO NOT end the game on the scoring app!

📋 The Break: Teams can make positional changes and coaching can take place during this 1-minute break.

🔄 Extra Time Part 1: Teams will retake the court, swapping ends from the previous quarter. Play starts with the next centre pass for an extra time period of 5 minutes.

🔁 The Half-Time Swap: At the end of the first 5 minutes, teams will immediately swap ends with NO break. Team changes may be made quickly at this time.

🥅 Still Tied?: If the game is still drawn after the 10 minutes of extra time, play continues without stopping until one team leads by two goals.

🧑‍⚖️ Official Support: If any game looks like it is heading into extra time, a committee member will be present at your court to ensure everything runs smoothly.

⚠️ Important Reminder on Timing
Time will not be stopped for tactical changes. The game will physically stop while the changes are being made, but the clock will keep running.

🤷‍♀️ Make sure your players are eligble to play in semis for your team, if you are unsure, please ask at control desk
