Over the past two days, we have had the huge privilege of bringing together aquatic professionals, teachers, and teacher aides from across Southland and South Otago to learn, connect, and grow.

A special thank you to the great Scott Wilson of Swim People for travelling from Christchurch and delivering both training sessions. Your knowledge, experience, and passion for quality swim teaching are always greatly appreciated!

We'd also like to thank Katrina Garrett (Swimming Southland Development Officer), Emma Kennedy (Swim School Coordinator, Splash Palace), and our own Meagan McCabe (Gore Multisports Complex Shark Squad Head Coach) for their support of the days and their ongoing contribution to aquatic education in our region.
On Sunday 27 September, swim instructors from Gore, Balclutha, and Invercargill came together for a fantastic day of professional development.
Thank you to our friends at Balclutha Centennial Pool and Splash Palace, and to all the swim instructors who gave up their Sunday to continue developing their skills and knowledge for the benefit of the swimmers they teach.

Then yesterday on Monday 28 September, we welcomed an amazing group of teachers and teacher aides from Riverton, Waikaia, Limehills, Invercargill, and Gore. During their school holidays, they generously gave up time with their families to attend professional development focused on aquatic education and water safety.

A special thank you to the Active Southland Tū Manawa Fund for funding Monday's workshop and helping make this opportunity possible for our teachers and teacher aides.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended these workshops! Your commitment to professional learning helps ensure more children across our communities have access to quality aquatic education and water safety experiences and we really appreciate you all.
