Four classes, one amazing spirit across the dojo today.

Beginners: In Kendo, we don't aim to be better than others, we aim to be better than yesterday. Great work todayβ€” let’s keep training hard together.

Little Samurai: Little swords, big spirit! So proud of our Little Samurai β€” brave hearts and loud kiai this afternoon!

Bogu Foundation: 1000 cuts to learn, 10,000 cuts to understand. You've made a brave start β€” let's keep improving together.

Keiko Group: Thank you to everyone who stayed until the very end. You gave everything in keiko. "Do not fear the challenge, fear not trying." Take up the challenge and let's continue growing together.

Thank you to all students, families, members, and sensei who made today so strong.

We are very pleased to share a special Kendo reflection from Neisha, who was still a beginner when she wrote this piece.

Neisha came to Kendo after many years of practising Judo, including achieving Yondan. Her journey to our dojo was not exactly an easy one β€” with a long drive from the Bay of Plenty to Hamilton β€” but her determination to begin a new Budo journey has been truly inspiring.

What touched us most was not only her commitment to learning Kendo, but the humility and openness with which she approached being a beginner again.

Her reflection reminds us that no matter how much experience, knowledge or rank we may have gained, there is always something new to learn. And perhaps the most valuable part of Budo is not what we achieve for ourselves, but what we are able to share and pass on to others.

Thank you, Neisha, for sharing your journey with us. We are honoured to have you as part of the Waikato Kendo family. πŸ™

Bogu Foundation class today β€” we focused on Kirikaeshi.

I hope everyone now has a clearer understanding of how correct Kirikaeshi, both as kakarite and as motodachi, can raise the level of our kendo.

A wonderful surprise today β€” thank you so much to Courtney for visiting us all the way from the USA!
It was a real pleasure to have the chance to cross shinai with a kendoka from the other side of the world. We all truly enjoyed keiko with you, and we hope to see you again very soon!
