Morrinsville Football

A tough result for our Men's Team on Saturday, going down 3-1 to league leaders Melville Insolvents.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Morrinsville came out strong in the second half and controlled large periods of the game. Carlos Vargas scored a fantastic equaliser after a perfect through ball from Rodrigo Flores, and the team created several chances to take the lead.

Unfortunately, a serious ankle injury to Captain, Rocko changed the momentum, and Melville capitalised with two late goals to secure the win.

Despite the result, the boys showed they can compete with the best team in the division. Plenty of positives to take into the weeks ahead.

Team Spotlight: U8 Torpedoes

Girl power is alive and well in the U8 division! The Torpedoes are one of three all girls teams in the grade, and these girls are proving that football is for everyone. Week after week, they continue to compete, improve, and make their mark on the competition.

Led by Coach Kate, this talented group of country girls, schoolmates, and previous season teammates share a special bond both on and off the field. Abbie, Amelia, Dillion, Dixie, Florence, and Maiah bring plenty of energy, determination, and team spirit every time they pull on the club colours.

The growth in this team has been incredible to watch. From cheering each other on to taking on every challenge with confidence, these girls are showing exactly what can be achieved through hard work, friendship, and believing in themselves. Keep shining, Torpedoes. You’re inspiring the next generation of girls in football 💛⚽️
