🏑 Johnson Cup 2026! 🏑
What a week! It was fantastic to have Invercargill host the 2026 Johnson Cup, with teams travelling from around the South Island (and one North Island team) to compete.
The teams were treated to some extreme Southland weather, including a few impressive hailstorms! Despite the conditions, there were no complaints, everyone simply got on with it and enjoyed their hockey.
A massive congratulations to Christchurch Boys’ High School, who took out the tournament after a tight 3–2 victory over Shirley in the final.
A huge thank you to all the teams, coaches, managers, parents and officials who helped make the week possible. We hope you all enjoyed your time in Invercargill and we look forward to seeing you back again!

🏑 TOURNAMENT WEEK ACTION
It was Semi Final day at the Johnson Cup, with CBHS the form team of the tournament cruising into the final after a convincing 6–1 win over Cashmere.
In the other semi final, Shirley Boys High School advanced after beating James Hargest in a shootout. James Hargest had fought back to level the match with a penalty corner right on full time, but it wasn’t to be in the shootout.
There was more shootout action at the Audrey Timlins Tournament in Timaru, with James Hargest Girls winning their shootout and booking their place in tomorrow’s final. 👏
Southland Girls’ High School are also competing at the Audrey Timlins and had another penalty shootout to decide their result today. Unfortunately, they went down in the shootout.
Meanwhile, Southland Boys’ High School are competing in the India Shield in Dunedin, going down 0–4 to Wellington College in their quarter final today.
👏 Best of luck to all our teams for their remaining matches!
