πΎ Panthers People - Carmodi Butler πΎ
Next up in our Panthers People series is Carmodi Butler, a Prem 3 Pumas player and U15 manager who has been part of Panthers since 2008/09.
Carmo has been involved with softball pretty much all her life, growing up in a family that played and were involved in different aspects of the game in the Eastern Southland community.
After moving down from Queenstown, a friend asked her to come along and fill in for Panthers and as she puts it, βI never left.β
It's the fun and social side of Prem 3 that keeps Carmo coming back, particularly the opportunity to bring younger players through and help them develop both their game and social skills.
Her favourite part of game day?
βWhen it's not raining or stinking hot π. But when the team is on the field, whether fielding or batting, it's the banter.β
Carmo is also a big believer that it's never too late to give softball a go, with Prem 3 providing a place for people of all ages and abilities to get involved.
Her advice to anyone thinking about trying it?
π₯ βHey, just come along, no expectations, give it a go in Prem 3 and then we can go from there.β
For Carmo, Panthers is all about having fun, being social and enjoying the game, and that's something we can definitely get behind. π
Thanks for being part of Panthers, Carmo! πΎ

πΎ Panthers People - Travis Bruce πΎ
Next up in our Panthers People series is Travis Bruce, U15 player and Panther for the past three seasons.
Travis started playing softball in 2024 and has found plenty to enjoy about the game, particularly playing catcher and being part of the Panthers community.
One of his favourite softball memories came with the bases loaded, when he managed to bring everyone homeβ¦ except himself! π
When asked what he enjoys most about his team, Travis said:
"They're funny and helpful. Good friends and good coach. They're just a fun team to play with."
His favourite part of training? The little game exercises.
And his goal for next season?
π₯ Hit a home run!
Good luck for the season ahead, Travis! πΎπ
