THE MAIN DIVIDE. WHAT A DAY! 🚴🏔️
70 riders turned out to tackle the first Main Divide on our new course. And what a day for it. No wind, perfect conditions, 115km and over 2,000 metres of climbing. The scenery was lovely. The legs probably had other opinions.
Daniel Whitehouse delivered an absolute monster of a ride, taking the overall win in 3 hours 2 minutes, a whopping 15 minutes clear of second place. He also claimed fastest time and King of the Mountain on Porters Pass. Seriously impressive.
Georgia Waghorn made it a clean sweep: first woman home, fastest woman and Queen of the Mountain on Porters Pass. Three awards, one very good day! 👑

A massive thank-you to Mike McClister, John De Garnham, Kevin Belcher, Susan Mann, Bonnie Davis, Yelena Cunningham and Bruce Blackburn. These people gave up their time, fuel and Sunday to help keep everyone safe and make the whole thing happen. We simply couldn’t run it without you.
And thank you to Pringle Homes, Scotty Brown and Badger Coaching for backing the event, and to every rider who came along and gave the new course a crack.
We’ve learnt plenty about the handicaps this year. With a new course, working out how long everyone would take was always going to involve some educated guesswork. Now we’ve got a race under our belts and real experience to work from next time.
And yes, there WILL be a next time. Same time next year. We’re definitely doing this again! 🙌
