Before we get into our Sunday Deep Freeze recap, the TA crew want to say a massive thank you to everyone who joined us over the weekend! Nau mai, hoki mai to all who travelled from all over Aotearoa to be part of the action!

A special thanks to those who organised for their club members to come along. We truly appreciate the effort, communication and support that brings everyone together!

He mihi nui ki a koutou katoa i tae mai ki te whare o Te Aroha Poker. Ngā manaakitanga.

SHOUT-OUT TO SOME FAMILIAR FACES!
Firstly, a massive congratulations to Andre Tupangaia and Bruce King on their solid results in the Main Event at the Petone Workingmen’s Club!

Andre secured an outstanding 2nd place, while Bruce battled his way to 3rd place. What a result for both players! 👏🔥

It was also great to see familiar faces from around the Wellington poker scene making their mark, including Colin Steer, Jordan Wilding and Edison Wang.

Well played, gents, and congratulations again to Andre and Bruce on cracking results in a massive field! 🏆

ONE HELL OF A SUNDAY AT THE TABLES!

Labour Weekend Sunday brought the heat! 🔥 The field was made up of more than just Wellington locals, with players joining us from Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Nelson, Dunedin, Horowhenua, Christchurch, Te Tairāwhiti and the Manawatū.

Chips were flying, bluffs were being called, and the battle for the top spot was on! Plenty of clever plays, cheeky moves and friendly rivalry made for a great afternoon at the tables.

After battling through a strong full field, Donghia and Piripi from Palmy made it to heads-up and struck a deal, splitting the top two prizes! But there was still $150 up for grabs, and they weren’t done yet. The battle continued, with Piripi sealing the deal and pocketing the extra $150! What a way to finish! 🏆🔥 Mean kōrua!

To all our frequent flyers, thank you for your support week in and week out.

As always, TA Poker would like to continue thanking all those who lend a hand when they can, pitching in where possible, dealing, cleaning up, helping with the set-up and pack-down. Thank you. We appreciate you all.

FATHERS DAY KINGPIN HUSTLE RECAP ✔️

This post has been sitting in the drafts a little TOO long! Better late than never!

A full day of action at our TA Poker Annual Father’s Day Kingpin Hustle, with this year’s Rebuy/Add-On format.

With the chance to rebuy or add on, everyone had the opportunity to top up their stack and have another crack at the tables if things didn’t go their way.

Rebuys were pretty slow before the break — we only had a couple come through! But the add-ons at the break were a different story, with the majority choosing to top up their stacks… which was actually a little surprising!

The field slowly narrowed until we reached the final table, with the Top 5 all making the money. GG boys!

It eventually came down to Jackson and Jacko, with Jackson getting the job done!

Mīharo e Tama! A strong tournament from start to finish, and his name will now be added to the Kingpin Trophy as the 2026 winner.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all our lovely ladies who came along to deal, help in the kitchen, tidy up and lend a hand wherever needed. And to Danny, always behind the scenes doing the mahi. We really appreciate all your time, tautoko and support in helping make the day happen.

On behalf of the TA Poker crew, a massive thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event.

That’s a wrap on this year’s Father’s Day event — another one in the books!
