THEN β‘οΈ NOW
A lot has changed...
But one thing hasn't: Matamata's love of community sport.
From the gyms that served generations of Matamata families to the new Open Country Community Stadium, this community has always understood the importance of having somewhere to come together.
Te Whare Hui Ora is the next chapter in that story. β€οΈ
Who remembers playing sport in the old gyms?

TE WHARE HUI ORA β€οΈ
You might know us as the Open Country Community Stadium.
But did you know our Stadium also has a MΔori name?
Te Whare Hui Ora
Meaning βwellbeing through connection.β
The name reflects what we hope this building will be for our community β a place where people come together, get active, build relationships, support one another and create positive experiences.
Because this is about more than sport.
It's about people.
And that's what makes Te Whare Hui Ora a community facility.
