Next up in our 2026 NZ Marist U23 Development Tour squad is Connor Hawkins from Napier Old Boys' Marist Rugby

Wearing the No. 10 jersey, Connor lines up at First Five-Eighth – one of the most influential positions on the field. The No. 10 is the team's chief playmaker, directing the attack, making split-second decisions, controlling field position with the boot, and creating opportunities for those around him. It takes confidence, vision, and composure under pressure – qualities Connor brings every time he steps onto the park.

🏉 Pregame Ritual: Every match starts the same way — a dedicated kicking routine, a walk around the field, and even putting his socks on in the same order. It's all about preparation and consistency.

💬 Best Advice: "Control what you can control. Don't stress about what you can't. Work hard, back yourself, and enjoy the game." Simple advice that's become the foundation of his approach.

⚡ Rugby Legend: Beauden Barrett. Connor models his game on Beauden's ability to control a match, attack space with speed, and create opportunities from anywhere on the field.

Under 85s is back for 2026. Hawkes Bay Rugby are looking at trialing a Ross Shield style competition. Napier , Hastings, CHB and HB Maori will contest the title and they want you to be part of it. Follow the link below and register your interest today.

U85kg Regional Competition

This season, we would like to pilot a four team regional U85kg competition. The four teams are CHB, HB Maori, Napier and Hastings. We will play three rounds and then have a final to complete the event.

Games are played on Friday nights, and we would like to get underway on August 21st.

Napier Old Boys' Marist Rugby are saddened to learn of the passing of long time HB Rugby supporter and administrator Chris Kitto.
Chris gave so much time to not only HB Club rugby but many other community groups and will be missed dearly.

Chris's funeral will be held at Dunstall's funeral home, Edwards Street Napier at 2pm monday. The family have asked if those Attending can wear their Club Rubgy jersey to acknowledge his love of the community game.

Congrats to NOBM members Patrick, Zach, Kade and Kere who have been named in the 2026 Magpies squad. All the best men on your 2026 campaign 💙💚💚💚
