Established in the early 1980’s All interested boxing enthusiasts are welcome, whether you’re a novice battling to get fit or an elite competitor looking to reach Olympic glory. Here is a few reasons to join the club at Napier Boxing:

This is our last week of our Rangatahi Academy for Term 3 and what a term we've had!

Off the back of our first Development Holiday Program and Rangatahi Exhibition, we've seen a lot more numbers in classes and everyone striving to work even harder and its definitely showing with increased skills and confidence all round.

This term we have continued to run 3 programs.

🥊 Cadet Boys Monday & Thursday 4-5pm
🥊 Junior/Youth Boys Tuesday & Thursday 5-6pm
🥊 Cadet/Junior Females Wednesday & Friday 4-5pm

We are getting great numbers across all 3 programs with there been a few Rangatahi almost ready to start competing which is awesome to see.

We are excited to announce our team of boxers heading to the 2026 Nationals to be hosted by the Whanganui Association!

We have 2 seasoned boxers and 3 boxers having their first taste of nationals which is super exciting!

And what an exciting moment for Napier Boxing when we have 4 out of our 5 boxers attending being young females 👏

This is a true testament to our Head Coach Nomes and the creation of our Female Rangatahi Program.

How does boxing make you feel?.......

Coach Nomes sat down with our rangatahi and asked them how they feel when they come to boxing?

The answers say it all!

From SAFE, to EMPOWERED and SUPPORTED, these girls are getting so much more out of boxing than just the physical.

This program is designed for them to be able to express themselves, build confidence, learn to celebrate their body for the amazing things it can do as opposed to focusing on how it looks, come together with others, and work alongside strong female role models in our Head coach Nomes and rangatahi coaches Mercede, Peta, Violet and Neeva 😁🥊

Thank you to Sport Hawke's Bay and the Tu Manawa Trust, for the funding to help make this program a possibility. We know this program is having such a ripple effect on these girls lives, their whanau and their community 💙❤️💙❤️

Today Mercede represented herself, her club and her country with absolute heart and pride against the current 3 x Australian Champ Ivy and took away gold 🏆

Ivy is one increadibly tough opponent, but Mercede stuck to the game plan, kept her work rate really high and landed her 2 with so much power like she does and managed to secure a really well deserved win.

Peta stepped up to fight a tough girl from the Victorian development team since the NZ team didnt have anyone suitable. Peta gave it her all landing some nice clean shots but it wasn't quite enough to secure the win so we are taking the learn today and will go back tomorrow and try again with a different game plan.

We are all so increadibly proud of our two girls stepping into the international realm of boxing and giving it everything they've got.

These two train hard, give back so much of their time to their club coaching others and are a credit to themselves 💙❤️

The highlight of the day for Peta was getting the chance to meet World Champion Mea Motu and having the most inspiring and beautiful korero xx

We are super proud of how hard these girls work week after week, and know they will do themselves and their club proud this weekend 💙❤️

The weather is getting warmer ☀️ and the sessions are getting sweatier 🥵

We know a lot of people work hard in physical jobs during the day, so out of respect for your team mates and coaches that have to work really closely with you, put some deodorant on and change your t-shirt before coming to training!

And if you've been wearing the same t-shirt to train in for the last year, maybe it's time to buy a nice new and clean Napier Boxing one 😜😎

Also remember a towel, and clean yourself down regularly as no one wants sweat flinging off their partner and hitting them in the face 😬

If you do forget to clean before coming to the gym we now have deodorant available and don't take offense if coach sprays you down 🤣
