Then it’s back on the road, with Chelle heading to Ōhope to proudly represent Waiariki! 🙌

🖤💛❤️ WHAT A WEEKEND! WAIKATO WĀHINE REPRESENT! ❤️💛🖤

This weekend has been absolutely amazing! Having the opportunity to represent Waikato in the Women’s Junior Team in Taranaki has definitely been an eye-opener both personally and from a team development perspective.

There were some great bowls, some awesome partnerships, plenty of laughs and some moments where everything just seemed to click. 🔥

And yep… there were also some not-so-great bowls 😂🤦🏽‍♀️ But that’s sport! Those are the moments we take away, reflect on and work on in our own time. Every bowl, every end and every game gives us something to learn from.

Overall, Waikato went down to Taranaki by just TWO points! 😩 So close!

But when you look at the Women’s results separately — our wāhine did AMAZINGLY! 💪🏽❤️💛🖤

I’m incredibly proud to have worn the Waikato colours alongside these ladies this weekend. New combinations were formed, partnerships strengthened and plenty of lessons are coming home with us.

We may not have brought the overall win back across the border, but we definitely brought home experience, development, memories and a little more hunger for the next one. 👀🔥

Thank you Taranaki for the competition and hospitality.

This weekend TWO of our very own TKT on Tour girls Pania Reed & Barbara Michelle are packing their bowls, loading up the van and heading down to Taranaki with the Waikato Women’s Squad to battle it out for the Ron Buchan Trophy! 🔥

From little ol’ Te Kūiti to pulling on the Waikato colours 🙌🏽🖤♥️💛♥️🖤

The assignment is simple girls…

💪🏽 Back yourselves
💯 And represent Waikato with pride

We’re incredibly proud to have two TKT girls heading away together and representing at this level. Opportunities like these are what all those hours on the green are for.

TKT ON TOUR – WHERE ARE OUR GIRLS THIS WEEKEND?

Well… today is technically FRIDAY for our TKT on Tour girls! 😂🙌

Because tomorrow, they’re swapping their bowls for a netball and heading to Rotorua for the annual Kurangaituku Tournament 2026! 💚🏐🔥💚

After another busy netball season, Kurangaituku is the perfect way to finish the season on a high — good competition, plenty of laughs, sore bodies and no doubt a few stories to tell by the end of it! 😂

But this weekend also marks a bit of a changing of the guard…

Netball season OUT…
Bowling season IN!

Once Kurangaituku is done and dusted, it’s time for our girls to turn their attention back to the greens and kick off what is shaping up to be another busy, exciting and well-deserved bowling season!

So for now, the bowls can have a little rest… (maybe someone has her’s in her Ute for a JUST IN CASE sneaking roll up) 🤫😂

TKT ON TOUR is Rotorua bound! 🚗💨🏐

A massive CONGRATULATIONS to two of our TKT on Tour girls, Pania Reed & Chelle aka Barbara Michelle, who have been selected in the Waikato Junior Women’s Rep Squad heading to Taranaki on 5–6 September! 🙌🏾🔥

All the training, commitment, sacrifices and hard mahi are paying off. To earn the opportunity to pull on the Waikato colours and represent at this level is something to be incredibly proud of.

We know you’ll both head down to Taranaki ready to give it everything, back your bowls, support your teammates and enjoy every moment of the experience.

TKT ON TOUR – SATURDAY 15th WHEREABOUTS

Our TKT on Tour girls are heading in different directions this weekend, with plenty happening on both the dartboard and the bowling green!

🎯 M & M O’Donnell Memorial Darts Tournament
This weekend, Waitomo Club Inc. is hosting the M & M O’Donnell Memorial Darts Tournament. A special event held in memory of Morris & Mona, bringing everyone together for a great day of darts, laughs and competition.

Waikato Women’s Junior Rep Training & Selection
Meanwhile, the Waikato Women’s Junior Rep Team will be coming together at Frankton Junction Bowling Club for team training and selection ahead of the upcoming Taranaki Challenge on 5th & 6th September.

So while our TKT on Tour girls might be heading in different directions this weekend, we’ll all be out there doing what we love … representing, competing, supporting one another and enjoying the journey.

This weekend has been one we will never forget ♥️🖤💙

Firstly, to be selected to represent Tainui at the Rohe Challenge was an absolute honour. Pulling on the colours and representing not only ourselves but our people is something we’ll never take for granted.

Secondly, we had the privilege of playing alongside some incredibly experienced bowlers. Every player brought something different to the team. Different dynamics, different strengths, and a wealth of knowledge that we simply can’t learn from a textbook. Watching, listening, asking questions, and learning from them has been invaluable.

And finally, to play against some of the most talented and experienced bowlers around was just as rewarding. Every end challenged us to think differently, trust our instincts, adapt, and continue growing our game.

Weekends like this remind us why we fell in love with lawn bowls. It’s more than winning or losing. It’s about the people we meet, the friendships we build, the lessons we learn, and the opportunities that push us to become a better player and a better person.

To everyone involved in making the Rohe Challenge such an incredible event THANK YOU. And to our teammates, thank you for welcoming us, supporting us, and sharing your knowledge so generously.

We head home with a full heart, a notebook full of lessons, and even more motivation to keep putting in the work.

The journey continues. ♥️🖤💙

🎉 ONE MORE SLEEP! 🎉

One more sleep, one more day of mahi… and then the girls are hitting the road! 🚗💨

The excitement is definitely building. Bags are being packed (and repacked), the checklist has been checked a hundred times, and we’re making sure we’ve packed absolutely EVERYTHING… including the kitchen sink! 🤣

Tomorrow’s plan is simple:
✔️ Finish mahi.
✔️ Home for a shower.
✔️ Throw on something that resembles “dress to impress”… (let’s be honest, comfort wins every time! 😂)
✔️ Load up the Ute.
✔️ Music up.
✔️ Hit the road, Jack!

These weekends are about so much more than the bowls. They’re about friendships, making memories, representing with pride, and embracing every opportunity that comes our way.

Frankton Junction… here we come!

TKT ON TOUR | ROHE CHALLENGE 2026

This weekend sees two of our very own Pania Reed & Chelle Xstac Cutee proudly representing Tainui at the annual Rohe Challenge, being held at Frankton Junction Bowling Club on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd August.

For us junior bowlers, from Te Kuiti Bowling Club, opportunities like this don’t come around every day. To pull on the Tainui colours, compete alongside and against some incredibly talented bowlers, and continue learning at a higher level is something we’re extremely grateful for.

As much as we’re looking forward to stepping onto the green, we’re just as excited to have been given the opportunity to play alongside some of the most experienced and talented bowlers in our rohe, while also testing ourselves against equally skilled opposition. Experiences like these challenge us, inspire us, and help us grow both on and off the green.

We’re also looking forward to catching up with familiar faces, making new friendships, sharing plenty of laughs, and soaking up everything this weekend has to offer. That’s one of the best parts of our sport, the whānau, the camaraderie, and the lifelong connections created along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to support us on our bowling journey. Every opportunity helps us grow, not only as bowlers but as people.
