Exciting news!! We welcome the talented Carla to the Body Electric instructor team! Carla will be covering our Tuesday night Pole Flow classes for the next wee while, and we can't wait to enjoy her sassy style!

Better known on stage as Paloma, Carla has been dancing her way through life for decades. She fell in love with performing through musicals, local shows, and the magic of the stage—and she hasn't stopped moving since!

With a background in ballet, jazz, contemporary, ballroom, and Latin dance, she's always up for trying a new style (because why choose just one?). Upon moving to Aotearoa New Zealand, she took her passion for Latin dance to the competition floor, placing 2nd in the NZ Salsa Open in 2014 and 1st in 2015.

After taking a break from dance for a few years, Carla then wandered into her first pole class in 2022...and it was love at first invert! From that moment on, she was hooked.

These days, you'll find her exploring all kinds of pole styles, always adding a generous sprinkle of sass, musicality, and fun. Whether you're nailing your first spin, conquering an invert, or just coming along for a laugh, Carla's classes are all about celebrating progress, building confidence, and enjoying every step (and spin!) of the journey. Expect plenty of encouragement, a few giggles, and permission to unleash your inner performer—because life is simply more fun upside down.

Burning Star: Freestyle Pole Show
Welcome to 'Burning Star' Body Electric's new and outrageous champions league freestyle battle royale: No losers - only winners! Watch brave pole warriors take to the stage and dance to music they've never heard the likes of before. Grab your popcorn, peeps! It's an evening of ferocious freestyle pole, and nobody knows what song is up next!
Saturday 18th July, 7pm, Body Electric Pole Dance Studio
All levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced, students and instructors. It’s an in-house show (held at the studio) but anyone can be involved. Get up on stage and freestyle to your favourite type of music. It’s not a competition. It’s a showcase just for fun!
2 chances to dance for everyone. Solo freestyle. Double freestyle.
Static & Spin poles available.
Photos and videos of all performances. Pretty lighting and a supportive audience made up of Body Electric people, friends & family.

- Ask instructors for advice

All levels of students can join Maree on Mondays at 12pm for 'Pole Jam,' a free-flowing pole dance and technique class, in which content is based on student needs and desires on the day. Make requests for your favourite tricks and spins, suggest a freestyle dance session, ask questions about the history of pole dance, or work on performance skills and techniques. This class is a pot luck pole session determined by you and your instructor together, to give you the awesome pole content you want and need.

Flow fans can choose from three ‘Pole Flow’ classes, taken by Emma, Rachael and Ana - these are perfect for established students and lovers of pole dance who are drawn to smooth, sexy and sensual movement, and wanting to learn choreography that engages significant flexibility, strength and control.

For those just starting out on their pole dance classes journeys, we have a bunch of ‘Pole Grooves’ classes to choose from, and are especially excited for Heather’s new Pole Grooves timeslot on Saturdays at 3pm. Pole Grooves classes are suitable for students of all levels, and they are a rollicking good time!

We have a number of other new classes to explore, including Maree and Ileia’s prime-time ‘Floorwork Fundamentals’ classes, perfect for when you’d rather roll around on the floor than climb a pole, Heather’s ‘Over 40s Pole’ for older students of all levels who feel more comfortable learning from and alongside their peers, and Cecilia’s ‘Active Core’ class, all about focused movement and controlled strength work to activate the core to stabilise your spine, and increase mobility and strength for posture, pole, and life!

Alongside these more specialist classes, we have our usual huge range of Practice Sessions and Beginner to Advanced level core pole content classes, taught by incredibly experienced, skilled, kind and caring instructors.

Exciting news!! Self Reflections Studio will be doing a much anticipated pole photoshoot at Body Electric on Friday the 10th of July!!

The shoot will run in five 1-hour sessions, starting on the hour from 12pm and finishing up by 5pm. Individuals being photographed in each session will have the freedom to jump in and out of the shoot as it flows, allowing everyone to hold their favorite poses in a relaxed, creative atmosphere.

The photographers will offer you classic portrait shots, dynamic wide-angle images, and striking silhouettes. You can bring a change of costume to explore different styles - some outfits will look amazing in silhouette, others in full light. Maree and Giada will be on hand to help you with poses so it’s a perfect chance for peeps newer to photoshoots to build confidence in front of the camera in a supportive group setting.

Once your shoot is done, the lovely Self Reflection Studio team will have you choose your favorite images for purchase:
