The Forest360 Premier Reserve lads have been on a goal scoring roll of late and are working their way up the points table
If you haven't already caught the action on www.hockeynz.tv we'll upload some highlights reels soon
16th May vs Marist
The lads came out firing in the first quarter and moved the ball well, creating numerous opportunities, but the score was level 0-0. With the message of staying composed, the lads continued to apply pressure in the second quarter and after the captain's band was passed to Ali Watkins when Matt Perry was injured during a penalty corner, Watkins scored a well constructed and executed field goal right on half time.
The momentum carried forward and 2mins into the 3rd quarter Watkins again found the back if the net.
Not to be outdone, Marist made a comeback and equalised through 2 penalty corner goals in the 3rd quarter
The 4th quarter was again one of opportunities. While the defensive unit absorbed everything Marist threw at them, the midfield and strikers continued to apply pressure, but couldn't find the back of the net. With the draw pushed the lads up to 4th on the table, the player of the day mug went to Ali Watkins
23rd May vs HSHC
The lads came out firing and 2 early field goals thanks to Brad Williamson - Not to be outdone, and as we have seen in the last few games, the opposition we let back in the game, scoring 1 field goal and 1 PC to see the scores level 2-2 at the end of the first quarter!
The message of ball security was reinforced and some nice passages of play were strung together as well as some great defending from the boys at the back. HSHC struck early through another PC goal, but not to be outdone Troy Davidson converted a PC to draw level at 3-3 going into the half time break
Quarter 3 was a bit quiet in terms of stats but was not without it's end to end plays. The lads defended only 2 PC's but Brad Williamson again found the back of the net in open play when a Thomas Dwyer shot was going wide.
4-3 at 3/4 time and the messaging was clear - Keep Control and Composure - and that they did. The lads continued to hold the ball and created many opportunities by transferring the play from side to side. Troy Davidson extended the lead to 5-3 through a field goal, but HSHC came back scoring a goal after quick free hit was taken just outside the 23.
With just over a minute to go, the lads earnt a penalty corner which was executed with precision giving Brad Williamson another goal and extending the lead to 6-4 securing 3rd place on the points table
Player of the day mug this week went to Luke Kirk for being instrumental in a number of plays during the game
That us all caught up!1
The boys now have 2 weeks off with this weekend being Kings Birthday and having the bye the following week - they'll be back in action on the 13th of June

๐จWeekend Results & Upcoming Games ๐จ
After 2 weeks, the Forest360 Premier Reserve Men returned to action in round 4 of the Hockey Manawatu Competition
The lads came out firing against Marton and were ahead 2-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to a Ali Watkins field goal and a Troy Davidson penalty corner. The message at the break was clear though - don't get ahead of yourselves. Focussing on controlling the play and making quality leads & passes, the lads extended their lead to 3-1 at half time through Josh McDonnell converting a penalty corner, while the Marton goal also came from a penalty corner. Marton made a strong comeback in the second half and attacked with speed which meant the TCOB defence was tested, and while Marton scored 2 goals in both the 3rd and 4th quarters (through 3 PCs & a field goal), Lee Moir added his name to the scoresheet through 2 well constructed field goals.
The final score ending in a 5 all draw, it was great hockey to watch and drew a lot of positive feedback from spectators
This weekend, the Prem Reserves take on Marist in the last game of the first round. Marist will be looking to test the resilience of our lads, but as is well known, once TCOB are on a goal scoring role they're hard to stop
Can the lads find the back of the net a few more times and get the W? Get on down to HMI at 5.15pm on Sunday to see what happens!

Weekend round up
While the Premier Reserve lads had a bye weekend, the Premier lads took on HSHC in the last round of local competition before Intercity
Don't judge a game by it's scoreline though as our lads held their own quite convincingly for the first half, with HMI player of the match Cody Davidson doing his part to keep the ball out of the goal & Tre Joseph and Heike Reitsma creating some good opportunities up front.
HSHC opened the scoring shortly after the start of the second quarter, but the lads kept applying pressure and earned a penalty corner 4mins before half time. Matthew Forward (who was named team player of the day) converted and the scores were level 1-1 going into the break.
Unluckily, the floodgates seemed to open as HSHC scored 3 goals in the 3rd quarter from a penalty stroke and 2 field goals taking the score to 1-4.
Conceding early in the 4th quarter the lads kept working hard but ultimately couldn't break though the HSHC structure with the final score ending up 1-6
The Prem lads now head into division 3 of the Intercity competition while the Premier Reserve lads are back in action next weekend
