The Whanganui Rugby Football Union (WRFU) is the governing body for rugby union in the Wanganui region of New Zealand. The Whanganui team play from Cooks Gardens, Whanganui, and have enjoyed much success on the playing field throughout their history. Since the introduction of the National Provincial Championship in 1976, the Whanganui team have gone on to win five provincial championships and have been finalists in each of the last four years in succession.

Whanganui teams meet at Cooks Gardens with Marist Clovers and Ratana going head to head, while Taihape will take on the Manawatu-based Kia Toa.

Friday and Saturday will also see the quarterfinals of the Tasman Tanning Te Awa Wahine competition, with Byfords Construction Taihape and the AGC Marist Clovers having home games against Kia Toa and Silks Audit Rātana respectively, while Rangitikei go on the road to meet top qualifier Bush.

Lisa is the Head of VIP Support & Partnerships at the New Zealand Rugby Foundation, a charity that Whanganui Rugby holds close, as our charity of choice.
Lisa has been a passionate advocate for seriously injured rugby players and their whānau, ensuring they receive lifelong support while helping shape a safer and more inclusive game for future generations.
This recognition is a reflection of Lisa’s dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the rugby community. Her work continues to make a lasting difference to the lives of players and families across New Zealand.
